I think people need to try and not overreact to yesterday’s game. There’s talent on the team and there’s a lot of changes that are going to happen in the off season to tweak and improve things. Next year we could be a 5/6 seed type team if the cards are played right.

How many players on the team would you say are happy to be a Brooklyn Net rn? As in, if they were traded, they’d actually be dejected and not elated?

Last night’s loss don’t even bother me nearly as much as the Sixers game we should’ve won.

2 months ago the Celtics lost to the Thunder by like 40 points. These sorts of horribly lopsided losses happen from time to time no matter how good your team is and it’s fine. I wish people would stop overreacting and scapegoating over it. Shit just happens sometimes. If anything yesterday was a wake up call for the guys that their honeymoon phase is over and its time to start getting to work.

I have a feeling we will have a few duds like that the rest of the season.

I am more concerned about our defense than our offense, though. But also more optimistic about it.

We should be thriving on the defensive side of the ball creating turnovers for easy offense. This will take some time to get guys on the same page. When the defense clicks, our offense will roll.

We have a glut of above average three point shooters, but most need to be hitting shots in the flow of the game rather than a stagnant half court offense.

Last night was frustrating but not the end of the world.

Truth is that a reasonable goal for this team is to finish with a .500 record.

It will be a journey as 9 of the next 11 are on the road.

We lost the last few road games by over 30 a game.

Tomorrow is my first nets game and last night got me lil worried now 😂

Unpopular opinion: Tank the rest of the season

This team obviously isn’t going to go win it all.

Houston will very likely have a top 3 pick, so they won’t be swapping with us.

Houston owns our pick next year, so we can’t build thru the draft next year.

Why not tank, get in the lottery, and hope for a top pick?

If we go 0 for rest of season, it will give us the 5th best odds in the lottery; putting us in a decent position.

I think there’s a pretty clear roster construction problem with this squad. We have some decent talent, but it’s spread too thin across too many similar players. Lots of guys who can finish a play but very few players who can create for themselves/others

That’s why I’m not gonna be too harsh on JV. I think our front office has a lot of work to do this summer. Need to consolidate picks/players and shorten our roster a bit.

I didn’t watch the game live last night. I saw the first half, and here are some of my thoughts:

This team needs time that it doesn’t have. A lot of passes were misplaced or the receiver wasn’t expecting the ball. That’s not talent, that’s not having time together

I didn’t think the offense was as terrible as the box score showed, and I’m talking about the first unit specifically. The starting unit generated good shots, they didn’t go in. My big issue was with the rotation used/lineups following the starters:

At one point JV had a lineup of Curry/Harris/O’Neale/CJ/Claxton. This is bad coaching and this lineup only works with prime Dwight Howard. One of Dinwiddie or Cam has to be on the floor at all times. After this lineup, the lead grew to a blowout, and Dinwiddie came back in and tried to play like Harden when he needed to trust the system and move the ball

Changes that should be made going forward:
    1. Start Cam Thomas
    2. Replace Joe Harris with Yuta in the rotation
    3. Always have one of Cam Thomas or Dinwiddie on the floor for paint penetration
    4. Give the ball to Mikal more. He makes smart decisions make or miss
    5. Don’t gaslight the fans by calling Seth Curry a backup point guard
    6. All bench units have to go. This is a negative of having so many rotation players is that the coach typically doesn’t choose the right mix

Mikal didn’t get enough minutes or touches. I don’t get it

I love how OKC plays and hope without superstars that’s how we start playing too, and perhaps build around Cam and see how that works.
