Truly deserved. He helped elevate the Lakers and helped cement Kobeโ€™s legacy.

So poetic that heโ€™s placed next to Kobeโ€™s 24 jersey and I will never forget the impeccable chemistry they had with one another. You could see that Pau wanted Kobe to be there, and Kobe was a huge supporter of having the Lakers retire Pauโ€™s number next to his.

Man I’m so thankful I got to be there for both Kobe and Pau’s nights. I never got to see Kobe and Pau play together in person so this was a very worthwhile consolation for me.

When I tell you the crowd was so electric last night. Oof.

  4. it’s still surreal to me seeing his jersey up there with the rest. there are only 12 jerseys retired from the greatest basketball franchise in history, and his is one of them.

    such a deserving honor

Did everyone in the crowd receive a Gasol jersey?

I can remember we were finally playing well after those dark years of losing to the suns in the playoffs ( and losing the MVP award to Nash smh) and we were having a great season until Bynum got hurt a few games before the trade. And for the new fans that was like AD getting injured and you just knew that meant the season was over. Then like a month later without any trade rumors of it even swirling, Mitch pulls off one of the craziest trades in NBA history. Pau came in and immediately turned the franchise around from the moment he stepped on the court. From middle of the pack to the finals. And it was none of that back seat bus driving shit Charles talks about with KD. He was sitting directly up front with Bean to take the wheel when needed. Thank you Pau and Thank you Mitch๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ.

Randomโ€ฆ..Wtf happen to Bynum? He still alive???? He wasnโ€™t (visible) at the ceremony and come to think of it I didnโ€™t see him during the Kobe tragedy. I know his career didnโ€™t turn out the way he wanted it to but he was never Kawame Brown. Hopefully heโ€™s doin well.

  7. Pau is the kind of player & human it is a privilege to root for and we are all so lucky that he played for our favorite team!๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿซก

I cried during his speech and Iโ€™m saying that proudly

Pau is such a amazing human being. My appreciation for him has only skyrocketed after what he did for Kobe’s family and being there for them.

Which Laker legend should have his number retired? Iโ€™d say D-Fish. 5 rings with us and countless clutch moments

There ainโ€™t no 24 without 16. Yes the math adds up

Heโ€™s not my favorite player ever, but heโ€™s probably my favorite person to ever play for the Lakers.

    Heโ€™s almost a perfect person.

I went to the game last night, and it will be a memory that I cherish for the rest of my life. I mean, Kobe spoke from beyond the grave! Itโ€™s like he was actually there. Iโ€™m seriously considering going to Pauโ€™s Hall of Fame enshrinement after that, but it will be hard to top last night. It reminded me of Vanessaโ€™s acceptance speech for Kobeโ€™s Hall of Fame enshrinement which I also attended. If you loved last night, you should consider going to Pauโ€™s HOF in August.
