[Kuzma] I will say one thing on the media voting for mvps over the years growing up a fan of hoops: how the hell does Kobe Bryant have 1 MVP????

Completely agree Kuz, but MVP doesnt mean best player in the game
Shaq too
Still hated when Nash got it in 06.
Nash has Kobe’s ‘06 trophy at his house
MVP is someone who has the best narrative for the season. That’s wat happens if u let media control the voting.
I feel like an awful Laker/Kobe fanatic not to realize he only had one.
That’s absolutely insane. He dragged some shit teams through the mud between Shaq and Pau.
If I’m being completely honest I almost feel like he and Shaq could have cancelled each other out during the three peat yrs because they both contributed in a big way.
He def could have picked one up during one of the two Pau championship seasons too.
FWIW LeBron could have more as well. We’ll also prob say the same about Giannis one day.
Evidence mvp is flawed and a joke
Over here at the Lakers we don’t care about the MVP award. Kobe wouldn’t trade his rings for a thousand MVPs
Kuz legit bleeds purple and gold
Only argument is 2006. He should have 2. Is that so different than 1? Not a huge injustice.
You take Kobe off that team and they are a lottery team. Take Nash off and they still make the playoffs and get 50 wins.

Colorado. The NBA media will never acknowledge it, but that’s the reason.
I think we all know why. He should have won in 06, but the media wasn’t comfortable voting him the MVP since it was still close to his off court allegations. No one openly said it but they basically danced around it. By 08 enough time had passed and they also could no longer deny his greatness. For sure he should have had two MVPs (the one he got in 08 and 06), there’s cases for others, but definitely those two.
DAMN GOOD QUESTION KUZ!
freaking Steve Nash man.

I think that I’m Kobe
That boy a Laker for life lol. Can we get him in the offseason for Lonnie or whoever lol
nobody ever says it but despite not going to jail or getting suspended Colorado damaged Kobe’s credibility for years. He was dropped by all his sponsors and spent a couple years really with nothing. Despite dropping historic scoring performances in 2006 it was still too soon for people and I think the whole “Lakers are a 7th seed while Phoenix is a top seed” narrative was crafted as a way to get out of giving it to him. Yeah Nash kept the Suns competitive without Amare but Kobe dragged a dogshit roster to the playoffs and a 3-1 lead in the first round, on top of the records.
He averaged 35ppg, most since MJ, and had an 81 point game and outscored an entire NBA team through 3 quarters and he’s NOT the MVP??? Has to be Colorado
sigh and reading twitter replies. fuck Them Kids.
Kuzma steady trying to trend on r/lakers
Who tf cares who’s MVP or not?
We all know who our favorite and best players are. You can’t put basketball in a box and measure greatness unanimously among all experts or even fans. We all view the game differently.
Kobe is our GOAT and that’s that.
I know we will be together again Kuz
MVP don’t mean anything when the vast majority of people will tell you Kobe > Nash.
if it wasnt for the court case he would have 3, that’s why he only has 1
You’re given MVP
you take championships.
Rgardless of Kobe having only one MVP, Kuzma is full of shit. When the players voted, they voted for scrubs for the All Stars game.
Steve Ash wasn’t that good
Kobe robbed at 06 tho
Steve Nash
Def a bias on certain talents at their peak. It’s like whenever you have judges who feel they have a good resume/opinion, they always want to humble whomever is the favorite to prove “they know ___ more than the average”. Like DiCaprio getting best actor or Bey getting album of the year. Sometimes judges let biases take the reins. I see that with Embiid

It was a lifetime achievement award. He had other years where he was better.
If you’re asking why *only* one, Shaq and he split the vote, and Shaq was dominating in his peak years, Kobe’s best performance sometimes was when the team was not good. And when the team became good again, Kobe was not needed to put huge performance, rather was more controlled. Other younger players (especially lbj) were upcoming and more in that category
