Let’s fucking go! Tbh NBA officiating was better last yr and was better than the season before that

  2. rattlemebones

FVV is the goddamn Martyr we need. Ja gonna get a couple games off for flashing a gun. FVV is going to be executed at half court by Adam Silver himself.

  3. YouStillTakeDamage

Absolute going to eat a fine for this one but it had to be said with the way some of the refs behave and handle the game.

  4. blue7999

Fred with the scorched earth napalming of Ben Taylor… Legendary shit right here

  5. rattlemebones

Seriously, thank god an NBA player is calling out the refs without the kiddie gloves on.

I plan on going to the first playoff game in Sacramento in nearly 2 decades. If we show up there, blueballed to hell and back, and the Tony Bros and Scott Foster are calling that game… I don’t think they would make it out of the arena alive.

Edit; I’m aware Tony Brothers is one person. It was a joke people.

    SING IT FREDDY

Plenty money as Dame would say, making a statement is worth the fine.

  7. vandalize_blender

Adam Silver is spineless for doing nothing with this officiating bullcrap.

  8. SF_FAITHFUL

He’s 100% right. People want to watch basketball, not some shitty ref ego tripping because a player breathed the wrong way in their direction.

  9. Lol speak that shit

These are the worsr fucking calls. I get missing a block or a quick physical play. But the techs on PLAYERS OPINIONS to their own teammates on the court is not a fucking fair call at all.

  10. pinkiebear

I need more players to start calling out these refs. The techs they’ve been giving are atrocious. And the way they call fouls on teams but don’t allow that same intensity on the other end for other teams is bullshit too.

  11. blazikenz

Holy shit Fred! That’s my PG!!! Let’s gooo

  12. If you pay attention to which refs are making which calls, you notice very quickly that in the vast majority of games, most of the bad calls are being made repeatedly by one ref out of the three.

A lot of the time if you look at their position on the floor, they’ll have a terrible angle or their view of the play seems blocked off, yet they will make the call even if the ref in prime position doesn’t.

  13. PusseySleigher

Damn he took one for the whole NBA fanbase. No FVV slander allowed

  14. MrAnder5on

    Tell em Fred.

Whole league needed someone to say this

  15. Someone had to say it, hes gonna take a heavy fine but I guarantee so many other players feel the exact same way. Refs abuse the fuck out of their power and make it personal

  16. Is kinda crazy that Silver hasn’t made the correlation between the ratings and the awful officiating job in the last few seasons. it has become a norm to see a highlight on a daily basis of a ref giving a tech for the dumbest reasons possible and nothing changes

  17. Fluid-Seaweed4763

other players need to show public support for FVV saying what needs to be said

  18. fulcrert

Really happy that someone said it, feels like the refs have been straight up controlling the outcome of games.

People have a hard time understanding that officiating effects more than just free throw numbers. The whistle can control your offensive rhythm, completely flip momentum, and prevent you from playing defence properly.

I also think it’s disgustingly bad how anyone labeled a superstar basically plays a different game than everyone else on the floor. They’re all but guaranteed several trips to the line off of snapping their heads back of flailing their arms on a weak shot attempt.

I don’t care if people think raptors fans have a persecution complex, I think it’s frustrating as fuck watching Pascal get slapped relentlessly and get no whistles then turn around and see PG or Jokic get sent to the line off of barely being touched.

There is a serious need for reform in regards to officiating, it’s really ruining the product. I know the raptors aren’t going to win a title whether or not the whistle is fair and unbiased, but damn I don’t want to turn the game off every time feeling like we just got bent over and fucked by one of these geriatric egotistical fucks like Tony Brothers or Scott foster.

  19. Pei_area

Jordan Poole’s yesterday for bouncing the ball back to the ref was comedy

  20. Chronixx

Respect that FVV was willing to open the pocketbooks in the name of speaking blatant facts. Not sure why refs are above being judged for terrible calls and directing the flow of games, something seriously needs to change since it’s been harming the product overall

  21. JustBlazee

I don’t know what FVV is talking about. I go to NBA games all of the time exclusively to watch the NBA refs. Ben Taylor is one of the best. When he gives out those early techs I’m out of my seat cheering. I still remember a great highlight where he threw out Taj Gibson for [setting a screen](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVr-0wQA580) in a Knicks vs. Bulls game. Truly a masterclass that does not let emotion dictate his calls.

  22. smoothsoul23

Good on Fred on calling them out. Refs are always on that bullshit

  23. SanFranSicko23

Whole league better chip in for this man’s multi-billion dollar fine

  24. I’m a clips fan and even I found it rubbish

  25. Subject_Gene_9775

This will be the benchmark for future fines lol. Eloquent af too

  26. my_pets_are_rednecks

I’d love if other players cosigned this publicly. It’s a huge risk, not looking forward to seeing the BS whistle coming our way but I’m so happy he said it. Calm, collected and to the point. Something needs to change.

  27. ClydeGriffiths17

May as well get your money’s worth.

  28. muddyklux

Taylor the same ref that T’d up FVV when he bounced the ball off the goal post. I see players do that shit all the time

  29. cad_internet

I’m not really one to go at refs usually, and for sure tonight’s Raps loss wasn’t due to the officials.

However, I really wonder if refs would’ve ejected LBJ, Giannis, Embiid, etc for what Scottie Barnes said.

I really wonder if refs would’ve T’ed them up for what FVV said.

If not, then good riddance for the whole “integrity of the game” justification.

  30. If over the next few days we saw almost every player on every team who does a presser take a fine and say what they think, leading to many dozens of fines, the league would have to respond in a different way than they have so far.

If all the players are saying the same thing, and the fans are clearly in support of the players on this issue, the only ones who look bad are the refs and the league.

PR nightmare. Every talk show talking about it. Every reporter asking questions about it.

Players – don’t let FVV hang here. Follow his lead for real change.

  31. Gaetan123456

Honestly more players should do this man, fuck the fine speak out about the incompetence!

  32. BobanForThree

I actually really appreciate a player calling out an individual official like that. These refs’ egos are so fragile and protected its insane. We need to hold officials to the same standards we hold players and coaches to – when they fuck up, they need to be called out.

  33. GetSchwifty1326

The reffing in almost every game I watch is subpar to borderline unfair. These calls legitimately affect the outcomes of the games. We need to institute mandatory 3rd party reviews of the plays or something. A 3rd party with access to the perfect viewing angles should immediately correct wrongly called fouls if there’s any debate between the refs at all. Just make it like soccer where they always look at the reviews to make sure it’s the right call.

As a fan I hate it when my team loses to a bad call and it’s happened multiple times this season. I also hate it when calls are missed for certain players or teams even when it’s not against my team cause it’s so fucking obvious and they just let it go like it’s not their job to ref and instead just watch the game.

Tldr: Professional sports in the US needs an officiating overhaul and I think modeling reviews after how it’s done in soccer is the answer.

  34. YourAverageBrownDude

I don’t know how Americans take this. Your cops, your NBA refs. Just power tripping dicks throughout, and there seems to be absolutely zero accountability

  35. InSearchofOMG

That’s NBA Champion Fred Van Vleet 😤 Love to see it
