[Weiss] Marcus Smart was asked about his foul trouble & officiating concerns and said, “I don’t know if you guys seen the Fred VanVleet thing, but that’s all I’m gonna say…I’m gonna let Fred do all the talking.”

It’s good to see other players start to co-sign Fred’s statements yesterday about the officiating.

“I endorse FVV, but I’m not paying any fines”

CashApp Fred some dough then Marcus, he’s gonna need it

  3. Yergason

Most players in the league probably lost their shit and commended FVV for that lol

  4. TacoooJay

Tatum is one of the most mild mannered guys in the league and he’s been top 10 in techs each of the last 2 seasons. I don’t get it

  5. MSKOnlyScans

Why do all these guys hate Ben Taylor from Thinking Basketball???

  6. Cheechers23

Every player when asked about the refs is gonna say “You remember what Fred VanVleet said?” So they never have to pay a fine lol

The refs last night were awful both ways. If there was a continuation foul, they got it wrong for both teams every time.

  8. AllPulpOJ

Fred is going to be the head of the players union because he said `fuck the refs` lol

  9. AnimalRomano

Smart citing “F. Van Vleet et al., 2023” to avoid the fine.

It really doesn’t matter what game I watch…the reffing is usually absolutely trash in one teams direction

  11. Boogo4ever

FVV just got an extra fine for these comments.

  12. DEVLINHO23

Van Vleet gonna become the most cited source in league history

Love that the players are finally ratting out that the game is nothing but a sham for the bookies

Fred taking one for the entire league. Real one. I’ve watched that video at least fifty times already.

  15. Serious question, what if every player in the NBA went on Twitter or Instagram and said what FVV said yesterday, would the league fine every player or would they be like, “yeah, ok, we’ll look into it”?

Fred’s the lightning rod/magnet of his time

Players and coaches should start a gofundme for him

Any NBA fan who watches multiple game a year know that the refs really affect games. They also know that some refs are just trying to make moments about themselves because they’re petty.

I shouldn’t know any refs name but I do. Except for the retired Ed Hoculi in the NFL refs should be indistinguishable to fans. They should be background figures. Yet so many of them (in three of the four major American sports) make it about themselves.

I’m really happy that FVV said what he said. It’s an issue that needs to be addressed but probably won’t be.

Let’s Summarize what Fred said because it’s gotta be clear:

    – Ben Taylor was f’n terrible tonight
    – Most Refs are great and try their best, communicate well and are fair
    – Some refs f*ck the game up with bad calls that change the whole flow of the game
    – Ben has called most of his(FVV’s) techs
    – It’s not why we lost tonight, we got outplayed but it definitely makes it tougher
    – The jurisdiction and power trip the refs are on sometimes is getting out of hand

  19. Toast2Carnage

“I plead the Vleet” is going to be the new answer from now on lol

  20. JitteryBug

Wow I’m impressed by FVV and I loved that clip

He calmly describes the issue, gives the disclaimer that 80% of refs are communicative and doing their best, and makes it clear that there’s a small percentage of refs who are creating most of the problems
