Rivalry has nothing to do with rings. It’s about emotionally intense competition where everyone get up for that game. We’re there, their fans + Dray just hate admitting it.

I don’t get why everyone acts like it’s so one sided as well. We knocked them out 2 years ago, and they knocked us out last year. Sure they won a lot of championships before most of the Grizz core was even in the league but that matters zero to this teams rivalry.

My only question here would be why is Dray holding 4 > 0 over the Grizz’ heads like they’ve been rivals for years and they’ve been more successful? There was a little overlap with the beginning of the Warriors’ run and the last few years of the GnG era (which might as well be meaningless for this discussion since those players are long gone and have nothing to do with the current rivalry), but the Grizzlies as we know them now, when they became contenders again…this is, what, year #2 of being that? I know we made the playoffs in 2021, against Golden State of course on their floor, but that was to get in as a #8 seed, a total “just happy to even be there” kind of deal. Point being, if Dray’s point is all about “lol, we’re so much more successful than you”, well, I’d fucking hope so. You’ve been together so much longer. It wasn’t until the Warriors third playoff appearance in this cycle in 2015 where they went all the way; we’re in year three of our current cycle now, and it’s probably not going to happen for us for about 100 different reasons that we all know about but until we’re eliminated who the hell knows?
I dunno, it just sort of feels like big brother feeling the need to big shot little brother every chance he gets. You’ve got your rings, you’ve got your Hall of Fame spot, you’ve got a TNT gig when you retire…you’d think he’d be happy with what he’s got at some point.
