NBA All-Star Lauri Markkanen joins Point Forward | “It’s a wrap after I get my three ball!” | S2 E19

Co-hosts ANDRE IGUODALA and EVAN TURNER welcome Utah Jazz star LAURI MARKKANEN to the show. In an enlightening interview recorded in Salt Lake City, UT, just hours before Lauri took the court as the first player from Scandinavia to ever appear in an NBA All-Star Game, the “Finnisher” talks about growing up a hooper in a hockey-mad country, reflects with fellow Arizona Wildcat Andre about his time in Tucson and the ups and downs he had in his first few years in the League with the Chicago Bulls. The conversation picks up towards the end when our hosts—life-long point forwards who have seen it all—ask Lauri about what it’s like being the best player on Team Finland and how he’s been bringing that same energy to the Jazz all season long.

The Point Forward podcast, hosted by former NBA teammates and current best friends Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner, uses basketball as a pretext to honestly and openly talk about business, culture, race, tech, and, yes, sports. Specifically, over the course of weekly hour-long episodes that drop on #pointforwardfriday, Iguodala and Turner, discuss and debate current national and global events in a way that is meant to resonate with everyone from the Silicon Valley elite to teenagers on the south side of Chicago.

  1. They better give him Most Improved Player regardless of win/loss records. Jazz were doing great before they traded away 3 starters. They're still hanging in there now too. Very rare to see a near 11 point increase from somebody already averaging 14.8. Might be one of the most improved players of all time. What a turn of events. Humble, shooter, dunker, efficient! MIP!

  2. God I hope he can bring Utah their first championship in the next few years. Would be awesome to see.

  3. As a Finn I appreciate guys in NBA appreciating Lauri. Expecially (ex)players, since they are the ones who have the best understanding of the league. 🙂 Nice to have this podcast and see Lauri talking relaxed looking with you guys.

  4. Ayo Iggy stick to ya day job, you a bum now.

And bring Wiggins on the Podcast to tell us why he bullshittin just like you did ALL YEAR.

I got more family issues in my balls than Wiggins, both y'all a waste of roster spots osrs

  5. Lauri is a good example of how shit coaches like Boyland can derail a career. smh

  6. Lauri keep grinding and develop teamwork in ur teammates and leadership. Your a great player just keep grinding and do your best to win.

  7. Lauri got that classic reserved Scandinavian personality. He can still improved more with his shot selection and playmaking.
