It’s crazy how the media can just pick and choose if defense matters for certain MVP races and not for others. Harden had one of the best offensive seasons maybe ever and lost because of defense. Now Jokic lets teams have season highs in points in the paint playing a much more important defensive position than Harden and it turns out his attrocious defense doesn’t matter because he’s really good on offense.
The gap in defense between Joel and Jokic is just as big as it was between Giannis and Harden, but the gap in offense is nowhere near what it was for Giannis and Harden in 18-19, Jokic is by far the better passer but Joel is the better scorer, and somehow Jokic is “running away with it”.
“Well, it’s their team’s record”. We’re one game behind the Nuggets.
