Recent MVP/Media talks have reminded me of one of my favorite all-time posts in this sub
Instead of the Harden trade, the context is now the Boston Media Mafia manufacturing public consent to award Jokic 3 straight MVP’s. Different shit, same city.
Absolutely one of the top posts on this subs history and glad we got more awareness of this book and this subject.
Inventing Reality by Michael Parenti is another great book about politics in media, the effects of poor media literacy and corporate media consolidation.
I’d also recommend Walter Lipman’s Public Opinion (1922) which is the oldest of the bunch but starts this discussion.
If you’re interested in media theory in general, I highly recommend reading up on Marshall McCluhan, the man who coined the term, “the medium is the message”.

Reading this would get people a lot more aware of the bullshit they recite being lies fed to them by corporate media.
Sadvillainy-_-
Also wanna add that Chomsky is a really fucking cool dude. I emailed him in college with my thoughts – and a question – on what I perceived to be a potential false-flag regarding an alleged Iranian attack on Japanese naval equipment in the Gulf of Tonkin (iirc) and he replied with a very lengthy and thoughtful response.
He also replied within 3 hours to a random ass college kid. The guy just loves educating people.

Honestly its a good read. The media and the police state are both militaristic arms of the corporate elite.

I’ll upvote anything that recommends reading the Manufacture of Consent
easily the best analysis to explain why everything is the way it is in the world, once you know how it works all the other theory just falls into place
