I’m not a djm fan, but if we asked him similar questions I can see how he could make the leap that the Spurs didn’t trust him to stay out of trouble.
Damn bro
I wanted him
I’ve no clue who Jordan Crawford is but Brandon Miller is in the buisness of supplying guns to gang bangers so yea it would be a legit question.
We picking Wemby that’s why we ain’t drafting him.
We have not had good luck with players drafted out of Alabama and off the court problems. Miller looks like a stud. Unfortunately, he’s radioactive in general and with the Spurs emphasis on being a decent human being, there is not much chance the Spurs take him.
That’s hilarious lol
1. This is from the 2010 draft – so it’s just Crawford trying to get a soundbite for the current draft.
2. We already know the Spurs do their due diligence – and probably do it much more than most teams. And with Miller’s history, I’m sure we will be extremely cautious and dig deep. But I also think that if we clearly see him as the best prospect (which does include accounting for character and attitude anyway) that we would still take him – but we would have to be very convinced on the character stuff. Remember we took Dejounte with his issues.
3. Anyone who has had their fair share of interviews, on both sides of the table, should know that these type of questions/comments are less about the actual content and much more about judging your response. It is intentionally assertive language – and they would want to see if Crawford immediately gets defensive or upset at the notion, or whether he can handle the statement and give a mature thought out response. The fact that he still holds onto it suggests that maybe he didn’t recognise that (not unusual for a 20yo, but you would hope agents prepare you well for these). Because if the Spurs actually felt that way then they just wouldn’t waste their time interviewing you in the first place.
Man this so hard to believe.
Crazy how the perception of Miller is him being some unhinged criminal when that’s not what happened at all.
This team had Dejounte Murray and DeRozan two guys with even murkier backgrounds and nothing horrible came from it.
If Miller was actually charged with anything I’d be all in the boat to stay away from him, but that’s not what happened.
I mean, if the Spurs really weren’t even considering picking you they wouldn’t be talking to you at all. More likely than not they want to see your reaction when confronted with the question head on.
This is bs. The Spurs have drafted guys with “checkered” pasts before. Nothing we know of miller paints him as some thug of career criminal. If indeed anything comes from the investigation that changes things but he isn’t a person of interest currently for the police and they aren’t looking to charge him.
If San Antonio things he is a star and they can’t get scoot of wemby…well he will probably end up a spur.
I feel the same way. It’s too recent and the ties to Primo/Alabama are also fresh. They just had to deal with all that and want to open that up again? Nah I don’t see it. Taking gambles on guys with a “checkered history” is fine when you’re at #29, or shopping in FA. But this is supposed to be a franchise tentpole for 7-8 years.
At the end of the day he might not be charged with a crime, but he drove the murder weapon to the crime scene. His best friend killed a young mom. Spurs just dealt with fallout from not protecting a female employee from a player. Optics here are so bad it’s not even funny.
Yes, Miller deserves consideration at #2. Undeniable talent and size for the modern NBA. Still think SA passes if given the opportunity. They HATE noise. Look at how quickly and quietly they swept Primo out.
Brandon is a no-brainer at 3. The only debate is if you choose him over Scoot
Good!
Man there is so much bs floating around about Millers involvement w what happened.
Here’s how I understand it, someone plz correct me if I’m wrong:
– Miller was Darius Miles ride that night. Miles left his gun in Miller’s car when he dropped him off at the bars
– Miles had been texting him for sometime to come get him later that night
– Miller says he was *already on his way* to pick up Miles when Miles sent the text about needing his gun
– This is backed up by the fact that Miller arrived within ~5 minutes of Miles sending the text about the gun
– This is also backed up, reportedly, by Miller’s dashcam, and the fact that law enforcement views him as a cooperating witness and not a suspect
– The reporting about Miller blocking the street w his car was disputed by locals saying the road is so narrow it’s essentially a one way street. So just him being there could be seen as blocking the road
Besides all that, whatever Jordan Crawford is saying is bogus, DJ had been locked up as a juvenile 4 times and we picked him
Don’t the spurs have like 12 first rounders over the next 5 years?
At 3, maybe Amen instead. Wouldn’t be mad at Miller tho, he’d be good at 3. At 4-6, a steal
We never get to hear what these interviews are like. Love this.
