This is why the NBA is a joke ….there was a time a few years ago when half of the league was tanking …and then u have guys sitting during the season because they are minute Managed ….
2020 was a failure of a draft for the Pistons and Troy Weaver. He missed on Haliburton, Desmond Bane, and Tyrese Maxey.
I feel like this team has done well by tanking, in that I mean they at least have some promising pieces moving into next year.
You have Ivey, Cade(coming back from injury), Duren, and Wiseman. You also turned Kelly Olynyk and Saben Lee into Bojan.
I still think this roster could make some moves either on draft night or after in trades.
Killian and Stew could be moved as it seems like Troy Weaver is constantly reminded as the 2020 Draft being the worst one night stand. And Saddiq was traded last minute.
This team has looked better without them than it did with them. Perhaps package Bagley in that bunch and get some better pieces.
I think you bring Livers back, get some help at PF/Backup point, and draft the best you can. This team might be something next year.

This is the last year for tanking for a top 3 pick. Next year needs to be a significant improvement. A 30 win team. This whole scenario changes when they get a Victor Wembenyana, or Scoot Henderson, and a ton of money to get Jerami Grant back on this team.
Casey is the coach they needed to get talent the time they needed to develop. He has his chip and he’s at the end of his career. Not many coaches would want to deal with this tough job and take hits to their own record/resume when they can actually try to win somewhere else. But that time is gone after this year. Playin Game or bust in 2024.

You do not grade a complete rebuild by number of wins. You do not grade a coach who is coaching through a rebuild on number of wins. You do not grade the players in a rebuild on the number of wins. Other than that the conversation was good.
As someone who’s watched every Pistons game over the past 3 years, almost everything Sam said is wrong besides the Casey & Killian comments. There has been a lack in development with some players (Saddiq, Killian, etc.) but Casey isn’t fully to blame although he’s been bad. Stew averages 11 & 8 with great energy and defense and you can’t expect a 40% 3pt shooter when he’s jumped from 1 attempt per game up to 4+ this year. I’m happy with his development and I think plenty of contenders would love to have a guy like him. Yes Saddiq was traded but that was the right move if you don’t plan on extending him. You get Wiseman in return who fits this team well and has been playing well since arriving. Didn’t even mention Ivey and Duren, who have been great this year. Add a top 5 pick to the rotation and this team improves even more. Can’t just look at the wins, gotta dive deeper and keep in mind the Pistons started this rebuild with absolutely nothing
No matter how much tanking a team does if your not in NY CALIFORNIA FLORIDA OR TEXAS no team has a chance in hell to land Victor the NBA WILL NOT LET IT HAPPEN

KILLIAN HAYES was a straight up waste of a high draft pick!!!! a confirmed NBA bust- his groupie fans who lust after him b/c they think his hair is lit and/or body is tight, will jump up and down after the occasional good game that he has. I can't wait until the Pistons rid themselves of KILLIAN bust HAYES Killian's marketing team deserves an A+ for hyping his skillset up before the 2020 draft- they bamboozled many, especially Pistons GM Troy Weaver. Thing is Casey didn't do shit in Toronto either. He caught lightning in a bottle and Inherited two established vets in Lowry and Derozan who made him look better than what he was. Raptors GM Massai Ujiri knew this which is the reason why he even went into the locker room to show Casey up before firing him. He was touted as some developmental guru yet nobody has to improved under him . The guy has to go.
