I mean it’s not like ja is the first example of this. This is literally textbook for about every celebrity/athlete apology.

There are some that obviously come across as more legit, this is not one of them.

  2. Yergason

The Interview by Rogen and Franco felt more genuine than Ja “owning up” to his mistakes when Jalen Rose interviewed him lol

  3. laker2303

If it was a player like cam reddish. He would be gone the entire season. But it’s ja morant bro lol. Grizzlies need him asap for the playoffs. Fuck all this rehab stuff lmao

  4. OrangeKookie

Can someone explain to me why the huge deal over Ja being an idiot? I don’t get why he got suspended for showing a gun on IG when he never brought it to a team setting. Also people are making a huge deal about him going to a strip club as if other players and people in general aren’t doing that

  5. MultiPass21

Ja has >30 million reasons to rush back so he can secure an All-NBA selection this year.

  6. Practical_Monk_769

I don’t see the big deal he never got charged with anything. he could have lost a lot and he knows it, hopefully he’s less stupid about it now.

  7. Goodisworthfighting4

Sorry its hard to take Jay Williams seriously. Dude thought Ime was the first black head coach in Celtics history.

  8. ParathaOmelette

He’s right. Anyone who thinks this was organic is extremely naive. This was carefully orchestrated, just look at the reports that came out yesterday and then the interview with Jalen

  9. DatboiDeku95

Finally somebody in the Sports media not going for this “show” they’re putting on lol. You coulda swore they were all under the same genjutsu the way that everybody else is sweeping this under the rug so quick. Shout out Jay will.

  10. Loli_LootGoblin

this is what i was thinking when i heard he was coming back already

  11. fredlikefreddy

I know the nba is a little to soft on disciplining dumb behavior but I have to wonder if the deal is the next thing he does will be a much larger penalty.

He really needs to cut the shit but if these last few weeks help him grow up and just focus on being a adult then we all win.

2 things. First, the thing that he did that was wrong was show a gun on ig while at a club. That qualifies as conduct detrimental to the league if you ask me and I think a suspension was merited for that. Eight games was plenty.

Second, the reason it feels like a facade is because they tried to get the public to treat it like there was an underlying mental health or substance abuse issue. IT’S A HEALING PROCESS! And there’s no way that healing process has been completed so quickly, so they’ve undermined their own spin. If it’s a healing process he should probably be out longer. If it’s a suspension for conduct detrimental to the league, 8 games is appropriate, IMO. He probably still has stuff to work on (*healing*) but I doubt he needs to still be away from the game.

I’m mostly okay with how this is playing out. The fuck up was how slow the league was to call it a suspension and how they tried to sell it like it wasn’t a punishment but *some time away to heal*.

Wtf was supposed to happen. People acting like he shot someone.

  14. im_absouletly_wrong

Lmao this whole situation is a joke from the start

  15. Soft_Humor4868

I mean what else do you want him to do? Tbh I don’t think anything changes until he’s shown he’s grown from the situation over time. Only thing he can do is continue playing and stay out of trouble. Maybe a couple years down the line, use his story as a cautionary tale to help others

  16. thurstkiller

    “Shotgun Willie’s, I’ve been there”

  17. Raddish3030

Lol. Ja Morant’s PR blitz is as real as Jussie Smollett claims about hate crimes.

  18. WeefBellington24

How is this any different than any other athlete that’s been “suspended” and then they are back at their jobs. Story as old as time.

  19. bikedork5000

Ok…but if he actually stays out of trouble going forward, then what’s the problem? And if he *doesn’t* stay out of trouble….ruh roh

In Ja’s interview, he said that he shouldn’t have gone live instead of he shouldn’t have done what he did while he was live. This shows that he’s sorry for getting caught. How hard is it for someone to say that what they did was wrong and they need to become more mature and do better?

  21. Would like to see what happens when a non-superstar does something of this level.

  22. little-evil77

They want him back cause he dunks and plays fast. It’s all a marketing and hyping up the playoffs.

  23. prochevnik

Not to mention the fact that people who may need therapy/counseling are going to expect some type of week long turnaround. It’s a bad look top to bottom.

  24. SwiftBacon

id be surprised if he actually went to the rehab spot tbh

  25. aoifhasoifha

I was telling my friend the exact same thing the other day, even predicted the interview. Someone in Ja’s crew who he actually listens to (a little bit anyway) told him “YOU JUST LOST 40 MILLION DOLLARS” and got through to him enough to do the PR dance.

I’m pretty sure only real change will be that Ja and his management will make sure that they have someone with him all times to stop him from doing dumb shit on social media and/or holding the gun if shit goes down. Jordan used to have a bunch of former cops as security to vet people and keep everything out of the media, and there’s a lot more money in sports these days. I have to imagine Ja’s handlers will insulate him the way.

  26. Isn’t brandishing a gun a felony and mandatory jail time?

  27. ktdotnova

Everything is blamed on mental health these days… and begging to be forgiven because you’re a man of faith.

  28. iiLikeChocoMilk

Honestly, no one will care about this in a few weeks. There will be another scandal that absorbs everyone.

  29. Eren_Schitt

Bro lost nearly $1,000,000 in NBA salary : not counting endorsements, brand deals etc.

It’s the BS “I’m going to rehab” *leaves within 2 days* : that leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

  30. kimjobil05

this man is spitting facts. one week in rehab is only good enough for detoxing and dealing with withdrawal symptoms. source: ive been to rehab.

  31. NatureTrailToHell3D

How can Ja prove that he’s “truly learned,” if that’s the bar? Jay Williams just wants him to disappear longer, go to counseling for longer, until he’s satisfied.

Also, why does Ja have to be away from his job to participate in continuing counseling? If he’s not being detrimental to the team and he’s served his punishment, I don’t see a reason for him not to come back.

  32. Am I the only one who doesn’t give a shit of ja posted a picture of him with a gun? This is seriously the dumbest scandal in years. Who got hurt from this? He’s an adult in a strip club
