If rose’s number is getting retired, Noah has too. Dude was the heart and tough face of that era and played his ass off while Rose couldn’t.

  2. thehunghippopotamus

Feel like Rodman is a pretty big omission.

  3. TheVeganMeatball

Noah is one of my favorite Bulls of all-time, but I don’t think he belongs there

  4. stache_twista

This is tough because if Bob Love is up there, DRose should be too. But I like that the Bulls have set a high bar with retiring numbers, and making the HOF (minus Love) seems to be the standard

I love Rose…I love Noah…their Jerseys numbers don’t deserve to be retired.

how dare you leave out top 5 bulls stats player cpt kirk out!

  7. hankbaumbachjr

I’m a rather unpopular opinion on this one but nobody hut the current 4 right now.

I like our rafters being rarified air.

The next time we win a title we can talk about the leader of that future team hanging next to Jordan and Pippen.

I like unofficially retiring #1 for Rose, but hanging his number opens the door for guys from the championship rosters like Rodman or Grant or Kukoc.

Derrick Rose, Dennis Rodman, and Brian Scalabrine

  9. Initial-Charity874

idk but noah def shouldn’t be up there lol

Derrick Rose should absolutely be retired if not for his time with The Bulls then for his contribution to Chicago hoops in general. This man ran this city for like four years and then gets drafted here and takes home an MVP.

you’re tripping if you don’t think DRose should be in those rafters.

  11. I feel like for your number to be retired you need to have three boxes checked.

1.) History of winning. Not all retired numbers will have championships, but are typically responsible for taking their teams deep into the playoffs.

2.) Longevity. Guys like Rodman don’t check this box even though they left a huge impact on the teams history.

3.) Accolades. This will usually be reflective for box 1. Guys should be top 10 in a couple statistical categories for the team also.

MJ, and Pippen absolutely check all 3 boxes. Love and Sloan are questionable IMO. I agree with some others, if Sloan and Love are retired…Noah and Rose deserve the same treatment.

Rodman’s is the glaring omission, after that I’d argue for Kukoc and Grant. I definitely don’t think anyone even comes close after those 3 unfortunately, and only Rodman is honestly realistic

Such disrespect shown to Artis. Best hair/beard combo in NBA history

  14. Krite0fur

Everyone on the 95-96 Bulls. Gotta earn the right to wear Wennington’s number, damnit.

No numbers should be retired. American teams are missing out on a big way to incorporate history into their franchises by having numbers that hold special meaning for each team.

Don’t you want other point guards to be proud to wear 1 on the Bulls? Or a wing who takes pride in defense to show that by wearing 33? How about a big wearing 13 and bringing out the heart and soul in his game?

Would love to see Kirk and Deng added as well. They were the definition of playing hard and giving it your all every night. Giving their bodies on the defensive end was always expected of them, but sometimes never fully appreciated.
They stuck around and never complained, just played ball. I know it most likely won’t ever happen, but if it ever does, shows that playing hard defense and doing what ever is asked of you, does go noticed by the organization, and most definitely the fans.

  17. Packhammer24

When you have Jordan and Pippen as your retired numbers, there are no other players that come close to that level. They should have been the only numbers retired

  18. H3rban_Legend

No.45 by MJ (or Denzel Valentine for the lol’s)

  19. Apprehensive_Ad_1379

What about about rondo and Carmelo?

  20. Shankypants2

Retire Capt. Kirks number. Dude got us through some dark times. #12

Perfect example of how Rose time here is overly romanticized.

Yes. His star rose high and it was great. But:

Derricks time here is basically memorized positively for the first 3.5 years, before his knee blew up.

Afterwards it was a painful story for everyone. We waited, he came back, injured again, waited for him. He was never the same and wasn’t the star of the team anymore.

He never was off the court anyway. He refused to take place in free agency approaches by the Bulls to other players (Carmelo Anthony most famously) and started to give interviews that were full of resentment.

By the time he came back 2014 the team was already Jimmy and Paus Team. They tried everything to make Derrick fit in again. But he just wasn’t the same, body and mind.

They gave him two seasons before moving on. But the Derrick we remember wasnt there anymore after 2012. Despite him having a MVP season, he didn’t add more to his accolades to force his way into the rafters.

Therefor I wouldn’t retire Rose number. And sadly also not Joakims. He was sure a high energy guy and fan favorite, but his peak was just too short (and we ultimately didn’t win).

This would lead to the case that we would have to consider hanging up jerseys from everyone who will lead this team with passion and a couple of AllStar seasons. Jimmy Butler would be a logical choice therefor too. And if Noah would be conspired, Horace Grant should get a look too, he won 3 rings here and was a corner stone from 88 to 94. And to he honest, he would be a better choice.

And LaVine would already be in a position to be next and if DeMar stays…

Jerseys should be retired after winning something or being an unparalleled individual with historic reach for the franchise. And Rose is a hard cut off but it’s okay.

  22. Jordan’s number should be retired in the NBA period. But the Bulls should be Rodman, Jordan and Pippen. That’s it.

  23. The_Predator96

Idk who this 23 guy is, but he seems like he’s pretty good if he played with Scottie pippen

  24. Sungyul23

Rose is instantly up the second he retires. Winning mvp of the league is rarified air and a small club.

  25. LennonWaK

I don’t know how the fuck Dennis Rodman and Tony haven’t been retired.
