Melo being drafted by the pistons not with Larry Brown coaching. Melo would’ve been begging for a trade his rookie year and the media would of been dragging Melo for not being what everyone thought he would be.
This is why I say the NBA is rigged. Melo was the obvious choice, but the NBA wanted LeBron to be the new MJ. If Melo goes to Detroit, we win 3 of 5 or better.. The NBA wanted LeBron and slowly dismantled the pistons.
And this is why is solely believe the nba called Joe dumar and told him he bet not draft Melo come on now just to promote lebron this shit gotta be brought up Melo now is 28k scoring points they black balled his career for lebron.
1. When it was revealed that The Pistons would get the second pic, the league was not happy. (It was live on TV when they were doing the draft order.) Even the person who had to announce it didn't look happy.
2. When Joe Dumars was interviewed, they kept saying "It's pretty safe to say you're going to get the big Serbian kid, right?" Joe D just kept saying "we'll see" but very happy he had the 2nd pic.
3. It's very possible the NBA told him to pick Darko. But even if he picked Milicic of his own free will, this leads us to the Melo possibility…
4. Had we drafted Melo, would we have ever made the trade for Sheed?
5. Had we drafted Melo, would Tayshaun have been in the game to make that crucial block on Reggie Miller in game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals? Then again, would he have even NEEDED to be?
So many unanswered questions and things could have been SO DIFFERENT had we drafted Melo. NOT just in the POSITIVE (more scoring and more championships) but the possibility of us never getting Rasheed Wallace in the first place.
I said the same thing years ago… Melo would've been under all those strong minded people, leaders, and defensive players!!! Easily 2-3 more titles, we would've had 1 more without if she'd didn't leave big shot Bob open! So easily 2-3 more chips 💯
I graduated in 2005 I'm 36 now and let's just say I'm still sick to my stomach that the GM promises Carmelo Anthony we taking you at 2 and then the next day drafts a center of Russia we never heard of and it killed the team we won 1 championship and lost one so it's all about the draft we coming off the 1 championship add Carmelo Anthony we going on a 3 peat son
I still can’t believe the drafted a European over Melo a national title champion legit #2 behind Bron if not even at that point. Literally as bad as Sam Bowie over MJ. The worst thing is it was done by a brotha like Dumars?🤷🏾♂️
Ben wallace is still my favorite player ever..I was born and raised north of Detroit Michigan and was 17 when the pistons won in 2004i started watching all sports when I was about 12 or 13.. and started watching a bit before grant hill got injured
LeBron wouldn't have gotten to the Finals until 2011 or maybe never. Who does Denver pick? Toronto? Miami? Heat would have no rings. Where does Shaq go?
Maybe the big 3 of Bron Wade and Melo in Detroit? They'd probably fail like the Nets did. 3 offensive players that need the ball. Who'd sacrifice?

In all honesty even if dude came and didn’t play D it would have lifted them higher than they already were … Melo’s offensive output would have made them an all around juggernaut … I was in high school watching this draft like wait what??? Guy didn’t even average 2 points per game … that would have changed a few things legacy wise and I am a huge LeBron fan but this would have had Melo with about 3-4 rings and super team ups would have happened a lot earlier than the Boston one did to have to deal with this
I'm a Piston fan but if Melo came and at the beginning of that year Derrick Coleman was on the team we probably wouldn't have gotten Rasheed. Pistons are cheap they got Tayshaun for 600,000 plus in his rookie contract and Melo played the same position.
This guy does this on a simulation and Melo wins 4 chips before LeBron even goes to the finals then goes to NY and wins 4 more with Steph Curry and Westbrook
As a Detroiter, I love Joe Dumars. However when he drafted f’n Darko Milicic at #2 over Carmelo Anthony, I lost it. It made ZERO sense drafting Darko. Pistons could’ve had a few more titles with Melo on that team.
Pistons didn’t get Melo because the year prior…Tayshaun Prince had a break out Rookie season! The Pistons said they were going with Tay at the 3 and continue to develop him. As we all know it turned out to be the right choice. But the MAIN REASON Pistons didn’t draft Melo or D. Wade or even Bosh was because during this time the tall lanky shooters from Europe and the Easter Block were SUPERHOT commodities. Dirk Nowitzki, Sabonis and shooters like them were all the hype and the Pistons wanted one too. They thought they could have the next Dirk in Darko Milicic…. so they gambled and CRAPPED THE FU&K OUT!!! 🤣
Corliss Williamson might have been a better player than Melo was in 2004 anyways. Tayshaun Prince was a better defender than Melo for sure. Does Melo get that Reggie Miller block? Do you sit Ben Wallace or Tay or Rasheed or Rip?

I agree with Rip, Melo would've been dangerous with the Pistons.
Melo & Tayshaun would've been a nightmare for opponents.

3 peat .. that what would have happened
Ben Wallace was the catalyst to the greatest defense in sports history!!!
Love rip. Deadly mid range. Current NBA is like what’s that defense thingy
And this is why is solely believe the nba called Joe dumar and told him he bet not draft Melo come on now just to promote lebron this shit gotta be brought up Melo now is 28k scoring points they black balled his career for lebron.
We wouldn't have traded for Rasheed for sure…..
He would've been the same inefficient blackhole that's garbage at defense and teamball like every other team he was on.
Casuals, you don't need to believe that. Pistons management did LMAO
And the trade for Sheed wouldn't have happened according to Joe D. Without Sheed they'd wouldn't won any championships!
A few things:
1. When it was revealed that The Pistons would get the second pic, the league was not happy. (It was live on TV when they were doing the draft order.) Even the person who had to announce it didn't look happy.

They would've won more than 1 chip that's for sure.
Melo was one a generation? Same generation as Lebron Wade Paul Durant
I said the same thing years ago… Melo would've been under all those strong minded people, leaders, and defensive players!!! Easily 2-3 more titles, we would've had 1 more without if she'd didn't leave big shot Bob open! So easily 2-3 more chips 💯
Oh we would of won 2 more chips if we drafted melo and we needed ben to stay

It's so frustrating
Or maybe it messes up the chemistry by having a young superstar?…..
If if if.
Mello playing Defense and providing the same type offense that team would have been scary!
I still can’t believe the drafted a European over Melo a national title champion legit #2 behind Bron if not even at that point.

If the Pistons were ran properly they’d be the Spurs. Pop & Larry Brown would have been going toe to toe for those rings
They still would have a problem. None of them not even Menlo would be able to stop Lebron.
Say it again rip
Joe Dumars fucked that up
Melo was wasted talent. No heart. No D. No I in team.
Would've been good for Melo career if he was a defender too after that team was done
100% Disagree..Carmelo would’ve made small impact if that
Melo would of learned defense wow
Ben wallace is still my favorite player ever..I was born and raised north of Detroit Michigan and was 17 when the pistons won in 2004i started watching all sports when I was about 12 or 13.. and started watching a bit before grant hill got injured
But you wouldn’t have gotten shed.
So he's name is Carmelo Anthony and my name is Carmelo Castro 🤔

We would of had 2-3 more titles. Thank you Rip
1 at least maybe 2 more Championships if MELO had gone to Pistons yet should’ve would’ve could’ve we’ll never know
How many games did the pistons hold teams 50 or under in games ? It was something like that
Facts the only team where all 5 players played D
I still have night terrors from this decision…
Melo’s career if he had had some good teammates and a sound structure around him? Would been fun to see.
I'm a Piston fan but if Melo came and at the beginning of that year Derrick Coleman was on the team we probably wouldn't have gotten Rasheed. Pistons are cheap they got Tayshaun for 600,000 plus in his rookie contract and Melo played the same position.
23 PPG and 2 rings AT LEAST would be the Melo Narrative
Sheed would have never made it to Detroit in that scenario… Or you have to let Prince go
Damn I wish that would've happened
They were better off without him. He never won a title
This guy does this on a simulation and Melo wins 4 chips before LeBron even goes to the finals then goes to NY and wins 4 more with Steph Curry and Westbrook
We will never fucking know god damnit!!
3 titles minimum…Dumars really fucked up drafting Darko
As a Detroiter, I love Joe Dumars. However when he drafted f’n Darko Milicic at #2 over Carmelo Anthony, I lost it. It made ZERO sense drafting Darko. Pistons could’ve had a few more titles with Melo on that team.
