[Katz] Thibodeau has pushed Barrett to get all the way to the rim instead of settling for floaters or fallaway shots in the paint. RJ busting out more moves as circumstances change. It’s working, too. 8.3 restricted area shots a game in the last 2 weeks, compared to 5.7 before that

  1. His shot profile should be more like jimmy butler. Attack the basket. Get to the free throw line and shoot a 3 here and there. Only way he’s going to be more efficient.

  2. It works when he can bully or speed pas his defender, but he still forces horrible drives when he’s overmatched.

Things has to force him to be a situational attacker. Pass it otherwise instead of forcing so much .

Thibs has been reading this subreddit for sure lol

I still like his floater as a tool. And would be better if he turned those fall away shots into post up midrange shots. Could be his bread and butter. I’ve also noticed he’s cutting a lot more which we know he works better with that burst so hoping he continues doing that.

Unpopular opinion but I think Thibs is a great coach

When he plays a team that has a big that protects the paint he won’t be looking as good , his good games are against teams without good rim protection

i thought I recognized RJ pulling off some Brunson moves/footwork recently. Maybe hes been learning from him

Attacking the paint more has been working. If he could just add that pass when he’s met by multiple defenders at the rim.

Shoutout to Mitch for being such a scary lob/Oreb threat that he needs to be manmarked in the paint. Provides spacing without shooting the ball.

There’s obviously something off with his shot and he doesn’t have the luxury of fixing it right now so close to the playoffs. He should definitely revisit it in the Summer but for now he should keep the shooting to a minimum.

This is cool to hear. It’s easy to forget that he’s still fairly young. Love to see that he’s open to coaching
