  1. wouldntknowever

Should have let the clock run instead of giving Reeves all those damn free points at the line.

Game was over, we don’t need to gift another bum a career high

  2. iwillwinandthrow

So so frustrating. a lot of mistakes too by our young guys at the end. these games build character. very winnable too. the refs weren’t on our side but that’s no excuse. sucks but we’ll learn from this.

  3. jakehightower

Legacy game for those refs. With Lebron out, you’d think it would be hard for them to keep LA in the play-in hunt, but they stepped up big time and gave Austin Reaves 18 FTs. Clutch performance.

  4. Conversation_Dapper

Why did markelle foul reeves at the end ?

  5. resincak

Fuck this shit. Just end the season already.

  6. rustystatic

We played terribly, but I just don’t get what Paolo has gotta do.

Reaves gets the weakest shit, Paolo gets hacked on every drive and gets nothing.

I hope someone takes a fine for this…

That bench lineup early in the 2nd quarter was awful, but we still should have won the game without those bogus calls

  7. HyperPlasma

So they just decided to give Reaves Harden MVP whistles

  8. Ultimately, I’m okay with this for draft pick position. But it’s stupid watching an undrafted bench player get every single call, while the #1 pick gets hacked each drive. It’s really tough for me to believe the NBA is not rigged some days.

  9. soxfaninfinity

I’m sorry that was some bullshit. Early in the game I would have called out our poor shooting and bench performance but that loss became on the clear bias of the refs. Our guys couldn’t t get a call down the stretch, and Reaves got a better whistle than Lebron. We could have played better for sure but that was sickening.

  11. MoBambaNYC

Just think. Austin reaves took one more ft than the entire Orlando team combined. Rui with an obv goaltend and franz 0-8 from 3 and the lakers squeak out a win against a team who played 22 hours ago.

Good luck in the play in LA. Lol

  12. Dear_Butterscotch_90

    Bench outscored by over 30.

    10/38 from 3.

Same problems that have plagued us all year. We’re actually close, but we need to add shooters. Get the novelty player Bol Bol out of the rotation.

  13. Elithekid1

I think there is a lot of unfair criticism towards Mosley but for a defense guy we fucking suck and we have the personnel to be good

  14. hxhbyuurrrrjr

18 FTs for reeves alone vs 17 from the entire magic team gn lol

  15. bllr32423

Really poor decision making down the stretch. Loss stings more because it’s against the fucking Lakers. Oh well good learning experience for the team I guess. If Franz’s shot didn’t disappear today we probably win this

  16. evenyetodd

The nba wants lebron (I mean the lakers) to make the playoffs, there was absolutely no way they weren’t going to give this to them

  17. breadhead84

What no bench does to you. Need Suggs back, I would’ve liked to see Moe, and then we just need a usable backup 3/4. Bol ain’t it.

  18. robth3mob

41/102 on fg is crazy we shot 24 more shots than them but still lose. Refs made some bad calls but we also beat ourselves.

  19. I_am_Realist

If this Magic team is worse than a Doncic-less Mavs team then we’re in for a looong dark road

  20. IntercomEnjoyer

Stupid whistles aside, I’ll take this game as our playin. Put the young guys under pressure is not so bad imo.

  21. Peleg5150

Truly a whistle fest to remember! Kudos to our MVPs, the refs, for making free throws the highlight. Can’t wait for more of these ref masterclasses! At least we keep the 5# best odds, that’s all that matter.

  22. evenyetodd

Paolo really only starts to whine when he’s very OBVIOUSLY getting fouled. He even lets 2 or 3 go by before he starts getting visibly deflated.

I am not mad at him at all for getting T’d up. A young player can only take so much. Long time coming really

  23. Bucs2k20

We had a shitty bench performance and a really cold game for franz but that game was rigged. Misses obvious goaltend and all the foul calls lakers needed this game for their play in hopes no way nba was allowing them to lose to the magic

  24. Aeronova20

If you didn’t see the game: the foul difference and FT difference is all you need to look at to know how this game went lmao

Big market home-crowd Lakers squad pushing for a play in spot is gonna get an elite whistle, with Reaves shooting more FTs than the entire Magic roster.

  25. eelposse

If I was Paolo I’d be mad at that non-call too.

Would say I look forward to the L2M report but those are BS too.

  26. ricksenberg

Can’t blame the refs entirely. At the end of the day, team made bad decisions. That Fultz foul was dumb, Paolo should’ve known better than to go at Reaves like that knowing how the refs were calling shit.

To chuck that many 3s when they weren’t falling most of the night was awful. To ride the bench as long as Mose did during that one stretch where they built the lead to like 16…

I mean, yeah, refs called the softest shit against us and didn’t call it evenly but it happens.

We looked like a young team out there tonight. Plain and simple.

  27. themoreyouknow_95

Lot of blame to go around for this one, some pretty dumb mistakes by all of the main starters down the stretch.

Overall though it’s not the worst thing, obviously helps our draft chances but it’s annoying to watch them let winnable games slip away. I’d like to see them pull some of these out down the stretch though

  28. lil_thirdy

Two stupid fouls late in the game cost us the game. We shouldnt be making those types of mistakes anymore

  29. I lied that’s not it. How tf did one of their role players shoot more free throws than our whole team? I hope the Lakers miss the playoffs by a wide margin and New Orleans picks a stud in the draft with their pick. Yeah I’m petty so what

  30. Ghostofz10

The magic getting 17 free throws and Austin Reaves getting 18 is why more and more people ain’t tuning in to NBA games. The product is unwatchable and change is needed.

  31. Hardwork407

I could just be overreacting, but this game really frustrated me. The weak links on the team really showed up in this game, Jalen’s absence was obvious.

  32. Ghostofz10

And as much as Franz drives to the basket and we constantly see dude not intitate contact and get slapped all across his body the calls don’t come his way but trust if he was a laker there would be no hesitation on a foul call.

  33. PleiadesDust

Once again, why the fuck did we play Goga over Moe

  34. StuffDaDragon

Lol Austin Reaves, bench player, 18 FT. Magic entire team, 2nd interior scoring team in the LEAGUE, 17 FT

  35. RespecDev

I mean, I get it. Having Lebron and the Lakers in the play-ins is good for the league. TV ratings and ticket sales go up. Everyone wants to see if Old Man Lebron can carry his team to one more championship, and even non-basketball fans will tune in. So of course the refs “didn’t see” those last few missed calls. They’re doing what’s best for the league. What would be the advantage of letting a small-market team with slim chances of making the playins win a game vs. putting the league’s **most valuable asset and team into a play-in spot**. A team like ours simply can’t beat a team like the Lakers by letting it be close enough that the refs have a say. The score was tied with under a minute. Against the Lakers, that’s a loss. Especially in LA. Especially when they are on the brink of making the play-ins.

Here is [some recent data](https://sports.yahoo.com/sleepless-nights-index-assessing-late-game-officiating-favorability-for-every-nba-team-lakers-lebron-james-222212957.html) ranking teams on favorability in the last 2 min reports. The Lakers are near the top, and the Magic are near the bottom. This comes as no surprise to any Magic fan. The correlation between teams that are winning or in big markets and favorability doesn’t always hold up across the whole list, but for the Lakers (58.8%) and the Magic (44.4%), the difference is clear as day.
