Obviously been a rough few weeks but Tatum is truly a special player.

sucks that he’s considered a secondary superstar compared to an Embiid or a Giannis by nba media heads but i’ll always support the guy. only way to get better is CONSISTENCY

Isaiah’s king of the 4th year was my favorite Celtic season

  4. GayForJamie

Keep in mind that Bird took ~3 threes a game to Tatum’s ~9, and ~6 fta to ~8.5.

Bird’s 29.9 would definitely be 2-4 points higher now.

    I miss IT.

I know this is a JT post, but can we take a second to appreciate how close JB is, as the clear second option, to having a higher scoring average than Pierce’s best season? I know scoring is up in the modern NBA, but that’s insane to me.

  6. CofTheEast

He’ll end up having multiple seasons in the top 5 by the end of his career. IT being top 3 is still insane

Larry is a fucking legend for being 3 out of the top 6 average scorers lmao

  8. Slumping or not, we’re lucky to have him and JB.

Imagine if IT was able to grow to even 6foot/6’1.

I’ll always respect the hell out of this dude for accomplishing what he did in the league at his size. One of my favorite players ever.

Doubting Tatums skill is wrong. Doubting Tatums gas tank and health at this point in the season seems more accurate

Scoring avgs In today’s age mean absolutely nothing. Most players stats are inflated due to the fact the game is being played at a much faster pace and the amount of 3s being took. Harden a couple years ago is a prime example of that.

This is also the era of no defense. You will hear alot of scoring records. Not too many defensive records. Not Tatums fault or Luca or LeBron or Lillard or Embiid or……..

  13. Willis050

People don’t realize that Hondo is a top 20 all time player, the man was the best 6th man ever and then became a superstar winning 2 titles

  14. kayrsone

Thats a weird counter. All I know is defense is not allowed in this era. So you will hear tons and tons of scoring accolades being shoveled to the masses.

  15. stefanohuff

The only stat I care about is to have the record for the most NBA ‘22-‘23 championship trophies

This makes Paul pierce look like a little fish in a big pond

  17. JWPruett

Tatum is averaging 30.0 with the team scoring 117.6ppg, while Bird averaged 29.9 with the team scoring 113.6ppg. Honestly figured those ratios would be much further apart, guess I just got used to 90’s and 2000’s scores.

  18. S/o to Pierce for getting stabbed and still playing a full 82 game season

  19. wilkinsk

He needs to average 29.3 for the next ten games to keep a 0.3 point lead.

  20. Manic-Finch781

All this showed me was Bird, PP, and IT were the closers.

  21. The more telling stat for today’s NBA is the games played. Tatum and Brown have the 4 lowest GP totals on the list (excluding Pierce’s injury season). This isn’t just a Celtics thing, this is a league-wide disappointment.

  22. BrigAdmJaySantosCAP

Crazy that Larry’s best years weren’t championship years.

  23. tyronicality

Can we not measure it till he finishes the season. It’s impressive but if you want to compare, compare with say birds’ numbers at the 72 game mark or so.

It’s like everyone compares PPG for their career vs MJ and didn’t account for MJ’s wizard years.

  24. Artefafa25

That 06-07 year was a nightmare that turned into a dream that following season

  25. realevilemo

    2022-3 Celtics = 117.6 ppg

    1987-8 Celtics 113.6 ppg
