FVV probably checked out some of the commenters on this sub

Stop the excuses Vanvleet. You play like shit, the crowd will be out of the game that will never change.

  3. because watching y’all this season is fucking infuriating

  4. FactCheckingThings

The whole quote in the article (assuming its the same one from yesterday) is better than the cherry picked headline.

  5. SiakamsWager

    FVV’s full quote:

“The crowd and the city will reflect what we do,” [VanVleet told reporters on Tuesday](https://www.sportsnet.ca/nba/video/good-fan-atmosphere-crucial-for-vanvleet-and-raptors-success-at-home/). “When we play like s—t, the crowd’s s—t, and vice versa. When we play our brand of basketball, when we get it going in there, when we got the right energy and spirit, just that winning atmosphere, we all can build on that.

“It goes the other way sometimes too. The crowd is very anxious. We gotta do our part to put together the right type of atmosphere and play and the crowd will follow suit. It’s a hard place to win when it’s going good.”

So not as inflammatory as the headline, but the whole quote makes sense. I attended the Nets game where Kyrie hit the game winning 3, and the crowd and energy were really good that night. Because it was an exciting game and the Raptors played hard. Just came up short.

The on-court product we have seen for the most part this season, is that really worth cheering for? You don’t need to be a basketball savant to tell that it’s ugly. As Fred said, the team needs to play better at the end of the day.

When the product is shit… sometimes you’re gonna be let know. Like, I can’t even watch a game on TV for free anymore they’re so much garbage

  7. Mattercorn

It’s true. I’ve been saying for a while. Our crowd is absolutely shit.

Any of you not realizing how big a factor is in the crowd engagement when you’re at home don’t have a valid opinion. The people that go to the games see it as a fun excursion and less of a fan’s mentality. Scotiabank Arena needs to get its shit together.

Also the audio cues need to be much better for the fans. I’d rather we have a fucking organ than whatever the hell they have now.

  8. Ssstanimal

He feels the pressure and proceeds to chuck up a 3pt near half court

  9. TongueFartMan

Please read what he said entirely before commenting 🤦🏻‍♂️

  10. harsheyboy

If you notice the lower bowl after half most seats are empty for few minutes in the 3rd quarter

  11. Hazelwood38

People cheer for things to cheer about. No one likes paying $100 for a nosebleed seat to watch a team lose.

  12. JohnnyFootballHero

Every home crowd is shit when the on-court production sucks.

We’re consumers, we paid $$ to be there, and we expect good entertainment.

  13. BurzyGuerrero

Lol this is gonna go over well.

I think it’s interesting especially if you heard Kittles interview saying that online reactions actually do affect the players lol

  14. batmanlikespizza123

I was at the game last night.

It was my girlfriends first game and she really enjoyed it.

But I wish she could experience the atmosphere a few years ago.

I went to see Portland during our championship year. One of the best experiences ever. Kawhi hit a game winner, crowd was ridiculous, great game.

Im not sure how they want the crowd to be there for them when they are being outscored by the Haliburton-less Pacers for the majority of the game.

Absolutely terrible D last night. I did my best to make the stadium loud but I can’t do it on my own lol.

  15. ironfunk67

I sure it’s gonna be weird seeing Fred and another team’s Jersey

He’s right, and I think ticket prices are a big reason why. MLSE has jacked prices so much that a lot of passionate fans are priced out, and it can be a really corporate/social event (seen and be seen) type of crowd.

Look at standard (non-resale) ticket prices for the Pistons game… $355 for 18th row in the lower bowl. Row 25 in the corner is $157. Milwaukee is hosting the Pistons and behind the net is $47 for standard tickets row 24 in the lower bowl behind the net. Smaller population but they are also the best team in the league. Miami has a similar metro population to TO and lower bowl behind the net vs Brooklyn, which was probably priced when they still had KD/Kyrie is $90.

The fanbase at the game is a reflection of MLSE’s pricing strategy, not a reflection of the city or the actual fanbase.

  17. myrapties

We pay money to be fans. With ticket prices rising and the shit record of the team, what kind of response is he expecting?

  18. rustyshackleford_711

Yeah you’re the reason bud. Trade this fool idc how much better he is playing

  19. PM_me_startup_jobs

I think Raptor’s fans are just more educated now and recognize poor play. Can’t fault the anxiety everytime there is a 35 foot heatcheck jumper when you are 0-4 from beyond the arc, or leaving a corner shooter wide open, or yet another ISO play both the opponents and everyone in the stands sees coming. At some point as a professional player and adult you need to stop looking for external excuses and search for internal answers.

Corporate seats full of people who don’t give a shit about a losing team – shocker.

Extremely high priced tickets combined with a losing team is not going to get the people goin … I get for these players $300 bucks is nothing. But to many Raps fans – it’s a lot.

For perspective, it was cheaper to get good lower bowl seats in our finals run than good 300s tix now. And the product is significantly worse.

The crowd just has no faith in our abilities, that’s the issue. Outside of the bubble season, the Raptors have been a very consistent solid high level playoff team for many years. We’re used to that, not used to this mediocre basketball even if we have enough talent on the team. Raptors need to make a big trade and get young hungry guys on this roster. Would anyone do Siakam for Alvarado, Herb Jones, Larry Nance, their 2023 1st and 2024 1st.
