The Utah Jazz lost to the Portland Trailbalzers last night in a game where they lacked the juice and energy they had had in games past. Maybe not surprising considering how shorthanded they have been and how much it took for them to surprise the Sacramento Kings and the Boston Celtics
Lauri Markkanen was incredible in another 40 point game, but on three occasions fell on his left wrist and was in noticeable agony. Is it possible that Lauri has just worn down and having already played his career minutes it is time for him to get a rest and get the wrist healthy.
The math on the Utah Jazz winning enough games for the playin is getting hard to figure.

What I donāt get is why, when the finnisher was thrown to the ground non of his team mates came to his defense. Whereās the brotherly love.

The jazz lost to the blazers is actually a good thing. From the post season camp perspective: the parity in the west and even the east make the post season easy to obtain as the jazz control their destiny. Win the remaining schedule and your in. The jazz can actually lose some games and still make the post season because of the direct lineups. The cannibalism in the west is real and things may not be decided until the last couple of days of the season. The goal š„ should be to maximize the draft capital so losing blazers helps the blazers stay in it. Jazz want blazers to compete. This is also true of other teams except the wolves. See tanking group for further reasons.
Tanking group benefits from this loss: the jazz helped keep blazers competing. That hope will lead to the lasers knocking off the wolves. As the wolves drop the jazz can bring up the rear in the standings. The east teams need to win so it becomes easier to get the wolves pick into the east possible draft spot. Let the jazz pick be above the wolves and at the rear of the playin. Some may want both those picks as low as possible but that gets tougher when teams lose like the blazers. A 40 loss needs to hold until the other teams lose and match that number. Jazz at 37 so they could lose and improve their pick and wolves by being above and by keeping the blazers engaged. Parity can work in both camps favor.
Good chance the jazz will win more games and so will other teams. The wolves simply need to lose while the jazz play the win and loses until they get the best draft spots and also post season fun and experience for the players.
