NBACentral: Austin Reaves says he’d like to stay with the Lakers but the NBA is a business “Anybody that says we don’t play the game for money is lying… I want to make as much money as I can and be as successful as I can no matter where it’s at.”

Knowing our track record we’re gonna lose him aren’t we

  2. WestVirginiaFan15

If they don’t pay him and he walks then Jeanie might be hunted down by the angry mob

  3. Sounds like literally what everybody says. He’ll be back for around 4/$50-60M is my guess.

  4. Kblagoat24

    Jeannie better pay this man.

    I’ve a feeling, 4 year $55-60M

  5. Aka pay me fairly and I’ll stay. Low-ball me and I’m outta here

  6. LudwigNasche

I think we can match any offer if we want, am I wrong?

I’d like to keep him and Dlo, but if Russell believes he deserves anything close to his actual salary we should think about paying Reaves instead.

  7. supremepoker

Lebron about to get him a Nike shoe deal to stay.

    Air Reaves coming soon.

  8. ALovelyAnxiety

Hes gone. unless Rob trys to make it happen and Reaves understands the rich history with Lakers hes def gone. hes flourishing. Some team will offer him a fat contract.

Austin Reaves after he signs his next contract with the Lakers…

“Lakers gave me an opportunity and took a chance on me. I had to repay them back. Lake show for lfie!”

  10. Apart-Bad-5446

Lakers can match any offers. Not re-signing Reaves will come down to whether the Lakers will want to pay the luxury tax. If they don’t re-sign Reaves and match the offer, I’m done being a Lakers fan. They can’t keep letting awesome talent that they develop leave them because they refuse to pay up.

  11. While I think he deserves the money, I can’t help feel a little weird that while we’re desperately trying to make a playoff push, his team is already trying to posture for contracts

Listen I get it, the money is important and he’s earned it. But there are other guys in our locker room that are fighting for a contract too, worst case scenario this affects team chemistry?

Idk man, I feel like we should be focused on basketball. He will get the money he deserves in the off-season

He wants money AND success??? Oh no his ass is gone 😭😭😭

  13. Tangentkoala

Some team will offer a 4 year 70 million dollar deal.

  14. McJumbos

feels like another jeremy lin and knicks situation

  15. StoneColdAM

LeBron will beat somebody’s ass if the Lakers don’t keep Reaves

Finally, an athlete cuts through all the bullshit and tells it like it is. He is trying to make as much money as he can with the skillset he has, just like **every single person** in here.

We don’t go to work out of loyalty to our company or love for our coworkers. We go to get paid. NBA players are no different (and shouldn’t be held to a different standard than the rest of us.

This serves as fair warning to some Laker fan out there who harbors fairy tale fantasies of “player X wants to be loyal to the Lakers” or “he’ll take a discount just to stay here.” This is business to Austin, not charity. Pay up or I’m gone. So you can’t whine “he’s only about the moneyyyyyyy” if he follows his word.

  17. Smart for him. He deserves whatever his highest offer is from whatever team, Lakers need to be the one to give him his deal

  18. GenericSpaciesMaster

Played good for a week and now he got a big head lmfao when is lakers gonna learn to stop payin these regular dudes, remember when this sub wanted them to pay THT?

  19. Tantle18

My dumbass read Austin Rivers and I was so confused. I love Reaves and I think Lebron will push to get him whatever he wants so chase that bag kid

  20. commidus

They can’t let another goat leave like they did a few years back.

  21. I say this with 100% confidence.
He is not going to be worth whatever contract he gets this summer.

  22. Austin you can even open an only fan, we ll be supporting you

  23. liftingruinedmylife

Yea, I’m sorry but I’m no longer a fan of his after such a statement like this. He can go fck off to some other team and play like shit, then be forgotten for all I care. It’s hilarious how he has such a ego after two good games which were primarily predicated on him flopping for free throws.

AR is likely a future all star. His game actually got a lot better as the season progressed and jumped from the end of last season to start of this season. His confidence is increasing as well. He is likely that 3rd player that all championship teams need. If he plays well during the playoff or better yet use it to announce his arrival, u got to keep him. I just have a feeling he’s going to have a break out year next season.
