I knew all the fun stuff was happening on offense but I didn’t know how much better they’d been defensively with Collins. Maybe I’d just given up on that side of the ball this season lol

Having a stretch 5 has been a really nice change of pace. Even after trading away Jak we still have a big who can pass too. His fouls kill me though lol

Maybe this is an unpopular take, but I DON’T feel like Zach is a slam dunk as a player and I kind of think he’s making the right amount (between 7 and 10 million a year).
He still has very little self control on the court and gets into foul trouble at an expedient pace. The 3 ball is nice, but he is far from the only 7 footer cranking up that shot. I think the Spurs offense works best with an anchor at center who eats up space and collects boards and high FG% shots.
Really good article though! Go Spurs Go!

It’s rinse and repeat with Jak IMO. We signed Jak to a team friendly deal and he outperformed it where we couldn’t resign him. Feels like Zach is heading towards that path. Defense and offense is miles ahead of where he was in Portland IMO

It’s odd to me that we couldn’t move him at the trade deadline.

Wasn’t he a pretty high draft pick? Glad to see him playing to his potential

he’s earned an extension I’m not gonna lie, I’d love to keep him around

I tried to tell someone this in this sub. I’m glad a professional writer dug into the details. I’ll just point to this whenever someone questions Collins again.

He’s always had the talent. You can’t trust his body though. Do not sign this guys to a big, long term deal.
