Why The 2011 Dallas Mavericks Were Not Able To Repeat

The 2011 Mavs dominated throughout the playoffs and was in complete control of every series they won. But the wheels quickly fell off the wagon, as they got swept in the first round one year later.

  1. I don’t think a single person excluding Mavericks fans ever thought Dallas stood a chance of repeating from game 1 of the lockout season

  2. I read about this in an article that Cuban blew up their roster after they won a championship because of financial flexibility

  3. Main Reason: OKC were young underdogs and hungry for the finals. KD & Westbrook chemistry was unstoppable

  4. Thompson was the perfect center for Dirk Nowitzki not being a traditional power forward. He was a bruiser who protected the rim that’s what they needed

  5. Cuban has made some really questionable decisions. Nash and Brunson come to mind and I don’t think he’s as great of an owner that many people think

  6. Theyre back at it again with luka instead. As good as kyrie is as an individual talent,he just wont fit at any team unless hes with lebron.

  7. People make fun of LeBron for his poor final performance but forgot how dominant that Mavs team is especially stopping a prime Kobe and a rising KD. They set a blue print on how to win a title without having flashy talent like the 2019 Raptors and 2021 Bucks.

  8. Letting Tyson go is what really messed it up he was the anchor to our defense and the other key contributors that he let go. I remember I was mad at Mark Cuban for that

  9. If they traded chandler and the remaining roster for draft capitol, would luka have a competent team right now?

  10. 1 championship is enough if u won it without relying on refs to rig the games.
Mavs 2011 the best NBA championship of all time 🏆🐴

  11. The 2011 run was miraculous and not repeatable anyway. Plus, they pretty much dissemble the team right after.

  12. No, the real reason why they couldn't replicate their success in 2011 was because they never gave the GOAT Brian Cardinal more minutes when Chandler left

  13. It’s sad Cuban didn’t learn his lesson because he did the exact same thing with Brunson and the mavs have been on a downward spiral since.

  14. Bruh. You can't say the Lakers were aging when they were going for a 3-peat, and you mentioned that Mavs are the oldest team. It kinds of contradicts itself.

  15. As a Mavs fan, the only true loss was Tyson Chandler. If we kept him, we wouldn’t have been bounced out so quickly. We weren’t gonna repeat with the Thunder being better and the Spurs still being good at the time.

  16. Luka is gonna have more difficult career than Dirk's basketball-wise. only luckily that Luka has far better shoe deal

  17. Every time Mavs championship would brought up, it would discredit Bron and the Heat. Bron works for his postgame after that season and went back2back and no one talks about Dirk and the Mavs lost after that 2011 run. Back to back or 3peat is harder to achieve because of that championship fatigue and hunger.

  18. Cuban fumbled his championship team.. The same way he fumbled other potential championships for being too stingy to keep Nash and then again later with Brunson

  19. Who cares! They beat the big 3 and won a chip. Everybody can't be like 90s Houston or Miami right after

  20. first and foremost, the championship team was basically disbanded as soon as the offseason hit 😅

  21. This is exactly the state of Mavs in now too. They lack a defensive big. They have dwight powell who is not even tall. They get destroyed at the paint and Luka is their best rebounder which shouldn't be. They need a Tyson Chandler to be contenders.
