I’ll stop short of saying it’s an automatic failure. But if we’re not competitive in the first round series then it’s hard to call it a success.

Dissapointing but not a failure. We are young and have plenty of assets to pivot in different directions

It is a failure
Accomplished_Power_3
They gotta really compete 1st or 2nd round. If they get routed by any team and looked helpless complete failure
mattbrianjess
Definitely not. We haven’t seen the core in the playoffs yet. We will have a much better idea of what level they are at with a playoff series under their belts
Zealousideal_Ad1734
No. Before the year I would be ecstatic to make the playoffs. Let’s not move the goalposts. Just try to be happy and enjoy the Knicks being good.

The team is fighting to stay out of the play in the final week of the season, they played Toppin 20 mins in B2B games 1 time this year, have given QG next to 0 on ball reps all season and traded a first the right to pay Josh Hart 20 million a year. They are behaving like a team that is a legit contender. Yes they need to back that up with a good post season performance or it’s a failure

it’s a failure if we flame out the same way 👉🏼 Randle hero ball

No! Not at all, we improved dramatically in the regular season. The future looks good!

Depends on how it happens
If it’s similar to what happened with the Hawks two years ago, it absolutely is a failure. If it’s at least a real series, I’ll take it so long as we remain competitive the next year. I’ve always been of the mind that the follow-up is what really determines that ie. 2020 Lakers not even making it out of the first round in 2021 (getting handled at that)

I get the concept of the playoffs and rounds, but people speak of rounds as if everyone has the same path. For good reason and because they’ve earned it the playoffs are actually easier the better you were during the season. Not harder, easier. So therefore one shouldn’t expect a lower seeded team to win. So it’s just a gripe I have with the narrative. It’s more than the Knicks couldn’t get outta the first round. It’s that the Knicks couldn’t beat Cleveland. Or in the second round the knicks couldn’t beat the Sixers.
I’m sure if the Knicks got to play the Nets first we would beat the Nets, if Miami next then perhaps Miami. But from the start to finish of this yrs playoffs we will play a superior team at every step. So I don’t understand tying us to some unrealistic expectation. You should expect to lose and be grateful to win.
Agitated_Smoke538
They’re barely hanging onto a top 6 spot let’s not talk about winning a playoff series. After this past week I have 0 confidence they’ll go more than 6 games with Cleveland if they keep 5.

One of the worst things that happen to Leon was that we here season. It has this unrealistic expectation that playoff success needs to top it previous benchmark.
That would make sense if we were Consistently in the play offs, but so far we have not been.
That word consistency is significantly more important to me. We’ve seen in this era we are consistently winning more games than we have in past years. Even the disappointing last season still tops out higher than a majority of other season past Melo.
Keep in mind too the east is plain better this year. There is significantly more parity and with the way the lottery and play in works, punting a season has become less worth it to teams and owners

Yeah, that’s really dumb. The 4 teams above us are above us for a reason even though I think we have a shot against the 76ers and the Cavs
nofapbbby
Just making the playoffs this year without the play in is exceeding expectations from the beginning of the season. Don’t be short sited.

Cavs have the second-best net rating in the league, it’s not a failure if we lose to them
