Triple doubles is my favorite advance stat

  2. Even the description of CRAPTOR is too advanced for me :/

He’s a walking cheat code. An anomaly. The Nuggets need to win at least one NBA title while he’s active, and playing in Denver… Let’s say in the next 3-5 years. They could do it this year. 3 MVPs, one NBA finals MVP, multiple first-team all NBA selections, and a chip this year. Oh well… That would be nice…

People always claim these advanced stats are wrong, especially the defensive BPM… look at the list behind Jokic, those are all top defenders in the league, so the stat makes full sense, doesn’t it? (not sure about Konchar, but the other players are all praised to be great defenders)

It doesn’t include an important detail: The Most Humble Athlete in the History of Professional Sports ♥️

We almost had the top two leaders in Defensive BPM on the same damn team. We would have literally been the reincarnation of the early 2000s Pistons teams

Notably, since there’s been a big pushback against “advanced analytics” recently, I do think a few things should be noted:

    1. BPM and VORP are basically the same stat – one is a rate stat and the other is a volume stat
    2. DBPM is also pretty flawed, since the math used for it is literally just their total BPM – OBPM. It’s not a super reliable metric
    3. WS/48, OWS and Winshares are obviously pretty heavily correlated in the same regard.
    4. while PER, BPM/VORP, WS, LEBRON, and RAPTOR are each individual catch-all stats, they do tend to overlap a bit in what they measure. That said, when they are all pointing to one player as an outlier at multiple standard deviations…
