This is the rub for Utah Jazz fans. Will Hardy makes a philosophical change to defense

The Utah Jazz weren’t built win an eye on winning these games to make the playoffs or the play-in and that is the rub with Jazz fans. However, what the Utah Jazz were built for was a vision to the future and they have been consistent with that in everything they have done all season. David Locke, radio voice of the Utah Jazz and Jazz NBA insider, is impressed that the Jazz haven’t lost their vision and been caught up in the moment.

Will Hardy has made a philosophical defense change to what the Jazz are allowing for shots and what they are taking away. It has been a massive switch and it is likely the right move for the future of the Utah Jazz.

We look at trends monday on a Tuesday as well as playing the lottery.

  1. I think what is disappointing to me is that in one way the final outcome of the season may be considered the least desirable outcome. Not playing in the playoffs, but not in a position to draft in the area of the draft (top 5) that is most likely to land the type of top tier talent we need. Of course we can draft a great talent outside of the top 5 as the Jazz organization has demonstrated over the history of the franchise with Malone, Stockton, Mitchell and Gobert. It is nice to see the development of Kessler and, to a lesser degree, Agbaji. I think the biggest disappointment for me early in this process with Ainge in control was the trade of Conley, Vanderbilt (on a great contract!), and Beasley for the possibility of a good pick. We traded three starting quality players for the possibility of a 1st round pick. In the process we helped Minnesota regain it's footing, thus harming the value of that pick. I think Ainge nailed the Mitchell and Gobert trades, not crazy about the Bogdonavic trade, but always felt the most recent trade with Conley, Vanderbilt, and Beasley was a poor trade.

  2. Great show. I would suggest that you read as few percentages as possible. I love statistics as any other basketball follower, but hearing 'random' 35,3% in middle of sentence, does not tell anything, if i don't remember all the numbers that i'm supposed to compare it. It is so much easier when you see the numbers. "Fifth best in NBA" or "2% more" tells enough, so you can go to the interesting part and make the argument. Percentages do tell the whole picture, but it does not transfer that well by listening. I'm new NBA follower and not native english speaker, so take that into account. šŸ˜ƒ

  3. "This team wasn't built to make the playoffs. This team wasn't built to be in the play-in." … But the Jazz aren't tanking. The management team just purposefully made the team worse now through multiple trades hoping that the team can improve through the draft…. But the Jazz aren't tanking.

  4. I think they need to be able to switch in and out of the zone defense on the fly, kind of like how i do sometimes in 2k lol. But im serious

  5. Not built for the play ins, maybe itā€™s because sexton jc and Laurie took time off to just magically slip out of the play ins just at the end of the season.

  6. That statement is what I would agree with David on. That the Jazz management wanted to play the lottery all year long. Once they made the Rudy trade then followed it up with the Donovan trade it was clear that the lottery is what they wanted. I just hope we get what we wanted because if we don`t then we literally traded away two legit playoff teams in one years time to do so.
