Interesting read. I think the “bust” in the title is a little exaggerated for the clicks. He’ll never be a bust with his athleticism and shooting. His potential peak is just so high that him not reaching it would be mega disappointing.

Would be interesting to see in a parallel dimension what Sharpe would have looked like now with a year of college games in his experience. Hopefully his summer work will get him tuned up for a strong second year performance.

Great post, thanks for sharing. I love film breakdowns like this.

Sharpe really needs to work on his defense and further on his shooting and he’ll be fine. The piece rightly points out that he isn’t all that quick, which I hadn’t considered but is gonna limit his upside I think.

I wish this article investigated any improvements as the year went on. If you look at his assist numbers they do increase after January.

He is still too young. He plays erratically, gets way too caught up in excitement, and doesn’t have a good sense of strategic playing yet.
He is very talented but definitely needs to develop other skills to be a reliable all-season player.

I question whether Sharpe has a questionable motor, as the author suggests. IMO it’s more a lack of experience, he’s still thinking the game more than feeling it, which should not be surprising for a teenager.

At least he’s playing big minutes lately. Especially after sitting out at Kentucky, the guy just needs game minutes.

Obligatory reminder that our potential future All-NBA guard is *19 years old*. ᕦ(ಠ_ಠ)ᕤ

The stock market could go up or down.
I could pass or fail my next test.
I could win or lose my bracket challenge pool.
Jokic or Embiid could win MVP.
I may or may not go to the gym tomorrow.

Not explored in this article and I wish it was – what does it mean for Lillard to have an old school slashing two guard next to him. That certainly isn’t what Dame has had with CJ and Ant.
Shaedon needs to put in work this summer but so does Lillard at throwing lobs…

This is Sharpes 1st season in college except it’s the pros. Can you imagine had he played in college this year and was in this years draft. Where would he be drafted. I’m guessing top 2.

currently: lonnie walker esque without the 3 ball
future: dominant scorer and a good rebounder/blocker for a guard
