Does Embiid Sitting Out Against the Nuggets Actually Affect the MVP Race?

Ryen Russillo talks about Joel Embiid sitting out against the Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic during a heated MVP race and why it’s not as much of a story as it’s being made out to be.

  1. Bizarre take by Russillo. He could have discussed how Jokic has a dominant lead in conventional production and crazy shooting splits and efficiency, + impact while on court, has played more games, his team has a better record and seed and oh btw a clear lead in advanced numbers. By why bother with facts? Embiid's candidacy is essentially narrative driven with the "It's Joels' Turn' the main one. Embiid trashes Jokic while Jokic praises Embiid. Adult in the room with a whining child. Voters will have to decide between facts and narrative fluff and a grown up and a petulant infant.

  2. Funny how all the things that help Jokic somehow are "not in consideration" for a lot of NBA MVP voters this year, voter fatigue is not as big as I expected but it definitly is a factor with a lot of voters who it feels like, are searching for ways to justify in their heads not voting for Jokic even though he is clearly the most deserving…

  3. Dont understand how you can follow Embid and not see that he is not MVP comparing to this two guys.. He is taking like half of the team possesion and taking shoot's or going to the basket.. Just look at few games where Jokic and Gianis play. For them team is a first option then if it's not going they push hard in offence.. Embid is prety much from first minute of play me, my stats push for MVP

  4. For me,, as at today, Giannis should be the MVP. Best record in NBA, 31/12/6, best 2 way impact.

Embiid, Jokic are great, but are MVP Pretenders. I'm looking forward to Denver's next 3 games against teams they may meet in the 1st or 2nd round, Pelicans, Suns, Warriors to ascertain if they are real. If they win 2/3 of those games, Jokic is MVP.

Philly have collapsed over their last 5 games and have an even tougher stretch to close the season.

  5. Jokic dropped from #1 in the ladder because the Nuggets had a rough stretch of games a few weeks ago. Embiid and the sixers are going through the exact same thing now AND Embiid totally ducked Jokic as well but this seemingly hasn’t affected his MVP case at all. This is some double standard bs right there.

  6. Embiid is Hakeem. Jokic is todd macoulugh. Love u jo. We will never see denver again this year lol that’s a gaurantee!!!! 🏆🏆😜

  7. I think it does matter when the debate is this close. It just feels like Russillo already made his decision a week ago

  8. Bad take here. 6 games is a huge difference in a close race, when the guy who should be leading the race anyway has played 6 games more, that's the final nail in a coffin type difference.

  9. Embiid had the lead and already beat up on Joker. Joker had a chance to get the lead had he went off on with no Embiid or harden but he didn’t. Didn’t even look mvp-ish

  10. The Ringer is such a joke of a media outlet. Somehow tried to compare casual golfer to the 2x NBA MVP. It’s a close race and Embiid no showed. He didn’t even show up for his TEAM! Big L of a take.

  11. Ryen, Giannis didn’t defend Jokic bcos he can’t. I know it has Giannis lovers like you confused bcos he’s a DPOY but the proof is in the pudding. Jokic is 10-4 career against Giannis and doesn’t just win but his teams routinely blow Giannis out. Do a rewatch of the Serbia-Greece game from last summer. Jokic buries him under the basket.

  12. Embiid probably going to miss 2-3 more games and play 65 or 66 games… Missing damn near 25% of the season… Imagine if I showed up to work 75% of the time. How could I win employee of the year?

  13. neither denver or philly are making to the finals..Philly has Doc Rivers…they won't make it past the 2nd round and might go out in the 1st.

  14. I respect the fact that Jokic and Giannis don't miss games. Embiid subtly campaigning for MVP, while skipping a big match up.

  15. "6 games is not a big deal". Literally the difference between home court advantage in the playoffs and therefore higher championship odds.

  16. Bro dropped a diss track then didn’t show up to the battle in Denver for the 4TH YEAR IN A ROW?! Indefensible 🦆🐥🦆🐥

  17. These terrible, super-selective takes are making me way more anti-Embiid than pro-Joker fr 😅

  18. Between the good basketball takes and the heavy divorced dad vibes, these videos have become a favorite of mine.
