I like it but I don’t see how we are ahead of the Bucks.
airbus29
this is an overestimate respectfully but i will take it
believemedude
I think they’re trying to curse us. I’m a huge believer in this team but we aren’t above the Bucks and Nuggets
bob_scratchit
I think this is almost entirely based on +/- and not much else.
NBAFan71
Their formula definitely emphasizes plus minus. I think that is an example of the limitations of pure metrics.
The matchups with some teams like the bucks and sixers is tough. Where as I think the Celtics are less scary for the cavs.
AdministrativeLaugh2
The Ringer is clearly full of fucking idiots then. There’s no chance we’re 14%, the Sixers 13%, and the Bucks 9%.
Primordial_Beast
Please stop posting these Ringer predictions! Their model is bad – they are just using +/-, which is very reductive if that’s the only thing you’re using! If we want to look at predictive models, let’s look at 538’s, which has the Cavs as being tied for having the sixth best title odds.
Why is everyone disrespecting the bucks so much? I feel like they have to be clear favorites as of right now. They won a chip two years ago with the same core group of players and won 16 in a row a few weeks ago
Emergency-Top-4505
I like 538s because they factor in playoff experience. I remember them changing it because lebrons teams were always way better in the playoffs
East_Bed1194
The Warriors should be above every team on here aside from the Bucks. Fans and media put way too much into the regular season. How are the Grizzlies fourth on here over the Bucks and Warriors?
Dependent-Green-1886
we’re a year away.
Helpful_Classroom204
Hell, I don’t believe in our title odds
DrBeepers
Don’t need a calculator to realize Bucks and 76ers own us.

Defense wins in playoffs. As long as they allow for good defense
EngineerClimber
Someone at The Ringer has been watching Mobley highlights lately.
Kommander-in-Keef
I love that we have a voice but we simply are not ready lol
NeverGonnaStop247
I’m a Cavs fan, but I am also realistic, they aren’t winning a title this year, happy they made the playoffs though

Defense in playoffs = Good
…and people generally forget this during the regular season point salad. But yeah, there’s no way we’ve second best odds.
DHaines1
I think the established odds are more than fair. Cavs are a pretty clear 4th in the East this year behind Milwaukee, Boston, and Philly. Not saying they couldn’t beat them in a series necessarily, but they would and deserve to be favored.
I hope and expect this to change in the years to come.
Rust2
Sorry, don’t see it. They can’t win on the road. And you can’t win a series beyond the first round as a No. 4 seed unless you win road games.
roof_baby
I want the Cavs to win, but I’d take Milwaukee at those odds
suphater
I like making my stance clear. I believed all season the true contenders are Warriors and Bucks, and then the Suns when they got Durant.
Outlier champs happen such as Mavs, Pistons, and Raptors, but when you set aside the regular season noise and focus on talent and team build, then these are the best teams. I think I would round out my top five with Lakers and 76ers, not even Celtics, but to be sure there is a ton of talent and good teams in the league, and I think the three teams I mentioned are a clear step ahead in talent and team build.

this is optimistic

You lost me at the Bucks @6
Pucky22
Just was reading 538 and they have the Cavs at 4%.

Betting odds of +4500 seem favorable either way.
