I find the lack of attempts to be the most interesting thing. We’ve been in a whole lot of close games this season. Siakam has often deferred in the 4th quarter when other guys are playing well, but 11 FGA seems very low. He’s taking less of these shots than god damn Reggie Bullock.

I guess there’s not many go ahead opportunities in the 4th when you always lead until 2 minutes left and then blow it

Not a big sample size but realistically, Pascal has never been clutch. At all, as much as our fans may hate to admit it

He is very good at getting to a hot start and building a comfortable lead for the team, but never do I expect him to take over in the 4Q

  3. jamiecballer

It’s 1 out of 11. If he made a 2nd he’d shoot up the charts.

    To 3rd worst. But still.

  4. pocemon11

I saw “Barnes” on there and scared the shit outta me, till I saw the H. before it.

  5. Massive_Secretary658

We already know Toronto has never been a clutch team besides with kawhi

Trade Siakiam for Lavine – all of our problems solved 😉

  7. The_Mikeskies

This is such a cherry picked stat. He should be a little better, but some of these people are just bricking semi-open shots versus Siakam trying to score over a double/triple team because we have no spacing.

  8. n3moh0es

well all he does in run into defenders hoping for a bail out from the refs

  9. FatShackOfSit

I feel like Pascal has never been clutch when coming from behind but he’s good at helping us hold slim leads.

Does being the first option/best player mean that you necessarily have to always take the last shot? Not necessarily.

Pascal scores, plays smart, and facilitates his teammates throughout the whole game and then in the last minute of the game he’s overdribbling, playing iso, and forces the last shot. Throughout the game he gives the ball up when there’s no shot, but then in these moments he forces the shot.

Siakam is still to blame too because of his decision-making and lack of awareness in these clutch moments. It feels like he wants to be that guy but he’s not there and he definitely gets in his head about it. He just needs to let the game come to him, and Nurse should be drawing up more plays for guys like GTJ, Fred, OG, and Barnes who have proven to be able to hit big shots. We need to exploit our guys’ strengths.

Obviously we don’t have the shooting that the Bucks have, but you see Giannis defer to his teammates all the time late in games and he doesn’t seem to be on any of the clutch stats leaderboards this year.

Notice, the top three here. The raptors, Miami, and Pistons in most of those games did not have multiple good shooters. The raptors at some point had no shooters. So Pascal was driving everything and failing miserably. Miami just had Tyler Herro and Piston had no one.

  12. He’s not clutch but this small sample size is hilarious

  13. DiggWuzBetter

This is a very small sample size, and a very narrow definition of clutch. Standard “clutch stats” definition is last 5 mins of a game, AND within 5 points, which gets you much more meaningful sample sizes. Here’s how the Raps shake out for this: https://www.nba.com/stats/players/clutch-traditional?PerMode=Totals&TeamID=1610612761&dir=A&sort=FGA

There’s only 5 Raps with a significant number of clutch time attempts, and their FG% are:
    – Freddie: 30.8%
    – Pascal: 35.7%
    – OG: 42.4%
    – GTG: 42.9%
    – Scottie: 54.5%

Pascal isn’t great in the clutch, but he’s average-ish. It’s a tough time to score, defences really ramp up, most stars have lower numbers in clutch time. The only really good clutch scorer on the team is Scottie – we should get him more looks for sure.

  14. paulfunyan

Okay, now show the stats with each players average minutes in these games.

  15. feeneyboi

Why is Reggie mf bullock shooting more go ahead buckets then pascal

  16. uncledooey

Don’t matter cuz scot barn is that dude

  17. InevitableDate3073

I’ve been saying this all year. Nick’s gotta find another option Thanks for posting!!

  18. DomincNdo

I was hoping this would’ve changed since the bubble and I did notice he tends to disappears in the 4th but this is way worse than I thought

  19. KingSyze89

Fred has always been the more clutch one of the 2 and we all know Scottie is turning into that take over guy…hell I trust Gary more that SpicyP

  20. ijustbrushalot

Fred is our best player and I’ll gladly die on this hill.

  21. Falconio_robbenator

I’ve never trusted the nba university. None of their graduates have gone on to play in the NBA

  22. kukasdesigns

This screams statistical anomaly at worst.
