So long #12
In the words of TB12, you only get one big, emotional retirement… so, on that note…I’m thankful for all the memories, family and friends I made throughout my career. It was one hell of a ride and I enjoyed every min! 12

Damn, so no Blazer reunion
I appreciate LMA, he was the flower that blossomed from the ashes of Roy/Oden situation. I wish things ended on better terms, one of the many “what ifs” of our franchise.
Make him our coach for next season
✌️
He got to 20k points at least after coming back from retirement last time.
Lol kinda funny that his retirement tweet clearly had zero time and editing put into it. He just typed it out with as much thought as I’m typing this common Reddit comment.
It’s a shame how things ended, but he was without a doubt the greatest power forward to play for a franchise that has had many fantastic players at that position.
No disrespect to Sheed, Maurice Lucas, Sidney Wicks, or any others, but give me LMA any day.
Mfer should of committed to being the first option that gracefully transitioned to Option 1b or 2 behind Dame as he aged.
Have fun with retirement LA. Hell of a career.
There is still a LaMarcus-sized hole in our talent pool. Happy trails, I guess.
Games 1 and 2 against Houston here some of the most dominant performances by anyone in a Blazer jersey. He left us in the lurches but never said a bad word about the city or Org like others have, just did what was best for him and his family, ya know
I will forever miss that buttery smooth turn-around J. Wish things had ended differently for him and the Blazers, but congrats big fella!
Imagine he didn’t get jealous.
20,000 points, 8,000 rebounds, 1,000 blocks. Truly a hall of famer.

Jfc I thought he died based on the thumbnail and the title of your post
Losing LMA for nothing that offseason was the start of a series of blunders, the front office made over the years, to have us where we are now.
I feel like, if he wanted to, he could easily have taken a 10 day contract considering the Blazers are weak at PF/C. Just 10 days to feel things out. Then, he could retire here or go elsewhere.
And it’s not like he wasn’t trying. He was working out for the Mavs a few months ago.
Either way, best of luck.
I think LMA is deserving of the NBA/Basketball Hall of Fame and will defend him against anyone who says, otherwise. That said, we shouldn’t retire his number ever.
Def still hurt / bummed out he left when he did, but also I can’t help feeling for the guy watching Dame continue to blossom into a superstar while LMA sat at home thinking “I should have stuck around….”
We all make mistakes people!
Shoulda stayed in Portland LaMarcus. You figured out real fucking fast that it aint always greener pastures on the other side. You and Dame woulda won a ring together but it woulda taken the real grit and grind you were no longer willing to put in. I get it family>everything but you coulda finished building a legacy here instead you opted to bail on Dame and take the easy way out. Not my PF its Sheed. Enjoy retirement and time with the fam now.
RIP you crazy diamond
Retired during retirement.
I won’t forgive him for being jealous of dame and leaving. He is not a blazer to me.
This changes the meaning of the phrase “Fuck 12” that some ppl have on twitter even though that’s not at all sports or basketball related LMFAO. On a serious note, LA was a great player and I truly believe if we had kept him we would’ve made it to the finals and he and Dame would be champions.
Im not too salty he left. Im salty he did it in a way that doomed the Blazers for a decade. He forced a rebuild with a tax roster. Too good to tank. Too bad to excel. Totally betrayed the fans and the team’s timeline. When’s the last time a 2nd team all-nba player or better just walked in FA without telling anyone? Butler?
I still believe Dame and him would have been an amazing dynasty if he stayed with the team longer. Hope he has an awesome post-nba career.
One of the ogs that got me not only into the blazers, but into basketball in general. It’s was sad to see him go. Still get worked up about imagining the blazer team that could of been built if we didn’t have all those injuries, could of been unstoppable
LaMarcus who? Don’t know anyone by that name.
I will never forgive him for quitting in the playoffs then leaving us high and dry.
“Fuck you, but have a great retirement!”
-Basically everyone in here
Guy had a great career, at least acknowledge that and appreciate what he did for Portland.
Such a lame ass
Meh fuck him
You can retire from a job you don’t actually have? Well then… Me too!
