  1. Weird to think about but the Hawks are probably the worst team in Atlanta right now. The Falcons built a squad and should win the NFC south. And the Braves are the Braves thank god they are back on.

  2. Aardvark-0001

Soooo fr this is an evaluation period for Quin. That’s where we have been since firing Nate. We weren’t going to be 6th seed with Nate either. So we can just chill .. enjoy the next 5 to possibly 14(?) games and then chill … following kings while doing that might be fun 😂

Anyways… here’s my thinking without the recency bias:
DJM: I think he is a good player but really does not fit in the role we are trying to get him to play. He is not a PG and not a great defender. We want him to be both. He is phenomenal on the mid-rangers but has to play iso for that (also it’s not Quins preferred shot, so we’ll see how that shakes out). If he is hot, no other player can get hot because the ball doesn’t get passed around. Of course you feed the hot hand but still you have to get other players going too which I don’t think is DJM’s game. I think if we weren’t forcing him to bring the ball in half the time and playing him off the passes from Trae or other PGs instead we might actually move the ball more.

Trae: Has actually been good most of the season. Sometimes on defense, sometimes on offense. Definitely struggled to bring all the aspects together with the DJM pairing. He hasn’t unlocked fully this year at all. Off the top of my head I think I can only remember a couple 40+ point game? Thats not the trae we know from past season but the trae from past seasons had better spacing to hit 3s and just had the ball way more. This guy maybe needs a support PG like Jalen or even Bogi to play with him instead of someone who takes the ball away from him half the time. He is a powerful player imo not being used to his full potential due to not having the ball in his hands.

Hunter: In our current starting lineup he is our best defender barring CC. I would argue prolly on the bench too. But damn the dude is streaky.
Bench: amazing. awesome. But we have to remember JJ literally just started getting mins after Nate left. I am glad Quin is recognizing his potential! But I don’t think he replaces JC outright all things being the same with the starting unit. Same with Bey. He can’t defend. Maybe he can replace JC but definitely not Hunter.

CC and OO ARE AMAZING. I hope we can keep both of them!

JC: all the love to JC but for the past 2 years hawks development has stalled and it’s definitely affected JC the worst. That being said, players like OO and JJ have shown so much development during that time… I guess the bar was lower for them but still JCs game doesn’t seem like it adapted at all. I still think he has a lot of potential but he doesn’t fit with CC or hunter. Also all the trade talk and injury prolly didn’t help his mental state. 🙁

Quin: I know it’s too soon. But there’s loads of things we are doing well. I think the biggest challenge will be to get rid of the bad habits this team has like not showing up for certain games, not defending for a quarter, blowing double digit leads, bad decisions in the clutch. There’s too many to list all of them but one thing I didn’t like is no experimentation with how we close out games so far. Even when the bench is hot we have consistently been closing with the starters and it just hasn’t worked.

    Sorry for the rant! Lol

  3. cblocktherock

Burn this shit down to the fucking ground. Keep the young players and trade everyone for young players and picks. I’m a hawks fan before I’m a Trae fan. Jesus Christ. Our starting five right now would barely edge the 2011 Bobcats.

  4. ahend1999

what was schlenk cooking, i must know 🤔 what moves he wanted to make last summer

  5. wayward_prince

John Collins had the goddamn audacity to call our fans and turns around and drops 5 whole points in a must win game. What a joke…

  6. wayward_prince

I thought DJM was supposed to be a defender? This man hasn’t come remotely close to slowing down a single opposing scorer. If he can’t shoot and he’s not defending well, what the hell is he good for?

  7. wayward_prince

It’s apparent this team is cooked without Dre to actually play a modicum of perimeter defense.

  8. wayward_prince

I’m genuinely tired of caring more about these games than any of our players do. I’m out. I hope we make the lottery. This team is a joke and it deserves to be blown up completely. What a disgrace.

  9. Fezmario

Still remember that 5 game winning streak from earlier this year

  10. Unsungruin

Trae is a 6th man scorer at best, but getting paid like Jordan. Makes no sense. Undersized, can’t defend, bitches constantly, turns the ball over, streaky shooting, and hasn’t developed his game since he came in the league.

He was the best player on a rebuilding team and tricked the FO into thinking he was a superstar. I’m done with it. Trade him (and JC, and Hunter) for a ham sandwich.

  11. D_DabMan

GM Trae really traded 3 firsts and a swap to get his buddy DJM, only for supermax Trae to play like rookie Trae. Now the team is stuck in mediocrity with limited draft picks and cap space.

  12. Frostythesnowmeme

Baseball season came at the perfect time man. This is the first game in a very long time I legitimately had no idea the hawks were playing which goes to show how disappointing this team is currently. I got the ESPN noti and checked the box score just to see it’s a good thing I didn’t keep up with this one. What a waste of a season we had this year. Anyways we can eliminate Luka from the playoffs on Sunday which would be hilarious tho so fuck it let’s win 1 last game

  13. WzrdKelly10

This game was so important because looking at the schedule I just don’t see this team ending the season at .500 or above. Our next 5 games are:

    Mavs

    @Bulls

    Wizards

    Sixers

    @Celtics

The only guaranteed win is probably Wizards. Mavs not that great but I can definitely see Luka and Kyrie giving us problems. Bulls been HOT and they’re hungry for a playoff spot and we never match up with the Bulls great. Sixers probably gunning for the 2 seed still so they’re definitely gonna play Embiid/Harden so that’s a tough game. Then, Celtics for the last game of the season and if they’re not resting starters, that’s another tough game.

  14. Can we just admit trae young is horrible at basketball

  15. Numerous_Badger9583

    Trae young 0-5 from 3, 3-12, 10 points, 2 to, generationally ass 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

    John collins 0-6 from 3, 2-10, 2 to in 27 minutes 😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤

In all seriousness tho john collins got to be benched. Aj And Jj should take all of his minutes with bey taking his starting spot. Make collin have to earn his way back into rotation

  16. doublethesadness

alright everyone bet on a win next game

  17. EuroStepJam

Is there a way to see a stat for the most times a team has shot 20% or worse from 3. I want to see who is worse than ATL.

First game I didn’t see this year – how were they even up 8 after one with starters Trae and Collins playing like crap?

  18. Your HAWLWLWLks lost 107-124 to the Brooklyn Nets due to some poor performances on our end along with a 42-point barrage from Mikal Bridges.

Murray started the game and continued where he left off the last outing ending the half with a little bit of everything. 15 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals on 7/11 shooting. He scored 13 of those in the first quarter elevating the Hawks when the Hawks started the game off slowly. He was deadly from midrange and floater range and hit ⅓ of his three-point attempts. He had a nice defensive highlight, picking off a Royce O’Neal pass with around 2 in the second for a dunk. After the second the takeover meter ran out and he didn’t do much else going 2/4 on all midrange attempts. Murray ended the game with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals on 9/15 shooting and only 1 turnover. This is pretty much his season average other than efficiency. He certainly wasn’t the reason we lost. He was fine. B for Murray.

Saddiq Bey started the game off nicely scoring 9 points on ⅜ shooting by half. He started off cold from three only making ¼. He also managed to get a couple of steals here. His first basket was off a steal and lay in. With under 5 in the third Bey took advantage of having Joe Harris on him and drove to the rim. With around 9 Bey hit a three off a Bogi pass. He ended with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals on 6/14 shooting and 2/7 from three. I think he’s in a little slump from three and we really need him to hit those. At least he can score in other ways. B- for Bey.

Naw. Trae Young was not it tonight and needs to be held accountable for it. Trae Young started like he did the previous game. By halftime, he had 2 points, and 1 assist on 1/9 shooting including 0/5 from three. The turnovers weren’t as bad as the previous game; he only had one at half compared to 5 on Tuesday. With 6 minutes in the third Trae drew a foul on Dimwiddie and made both. With under 8 in the fourth he drew a foul on a floater attempt. With under 5 Trae had a nice crossover for a step-back shot. Not many highlights for Trae. He ended with 10 points and 6 assists on 3/12 shooting and 0/5 from three. He got to the line twice and made all of them. The bottom line is we can’t have Trae going 3/12 and this performance is absolutely unacceptable for the caliber of player that he is. I feel like these types of performances from an efficiency perspective happen way too often and it’s something that he individually needs to fix in his game. It’s also another game in the books where Dejounte plays well and Trae doesn’t. F for Trae tonight.

Jalen was ok and he did show some flashes of goodness. In the first half, Jalen Johnson had a nice fake and drove for a foul. He went 0/2 from three by half but there was a half-court heave in there. He also contributed 5 rebounds on top of his 4 points by half. He had a wide-open dunk from Trae in the third. In the end, we had 6 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists on ⅖ shooting including 0/3 from three. Honestly, I don’t have a problem with much of his game tonight. I do wish he could hit the open three and I hope he continues to make progress in that regard as it is his weakest link. He was able to find guys good shots with his passing although he had two turnovers. He did get three fouls but he spent a good amount of time guarding bridges, who was amazing tonight. Not too much more to expect in 13 minutes. B for Jalen.

AJ Griffin was good and once again made a case for why he should be a regular in the rotation. AJ Griffin came in late in the first quarter and hit a three. AJ hit his second three with under four in the third from a Jalen Johnson kick-out off a drive. With around three, he had an interesting animation where he spun off a fake taking a step in for a middy that missed. He hit another wide-open three thanks to Jalen Johnson. To start the fourth AJ got around Cam Johnson and rose for a dunk. In all, he ended the match with 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist on 4/8 shooting and ¾ from three in 16 minutes of playing time. As I’ve said before AJ should be getting at worst 15 minutes a night even with the roster fully healthy. In tonight’s matchup, I think we could have had a better chance had he played more. B+ for AJ

Bogi filled the stat sheet to start the game with 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists by half. He made a three towards the early part of his first half run but in general, he was cold going ¼. With about 10 in the fourth Bogi hit a three but got called for an offensive foul because he pushed off his defender to get open. That was a warm-up because, in The next possession, he hit another three from the same spot. Bogi hit a teardrop with around 6 to go. He ended with 12 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists on 4/7 shooting, and ⅖ from 3. B- For Bogi

This has got to be Caplea’s worst game in a long while. 6 points, and 6 rebounds on 3/6 shooting. Not too much to say here other than he got thoroughly outplayed by Nick Claxton who had 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists on 85% fg. Capela got outscored and outrebounded. I felt Claxton outworked him on the offensive glass with his intensity. D+ for Clint tonight.

Okongwu started the game hot with 10 points and 5 rebounds by half. After that he didn’t do much after that and didn’t even have a shot attempt up in the second half. He did have a massive block on Joe Harris in the third for his second block. He also had a very questionable flagrant foul on Nick Claxton. He ended the game with 12 points and 6 rebounds on ¾ shooting. He got to the free-throw line 3 times. Twice in the first half and once in the second. He did this all in 19 minutes so it was still a solid outing for OO and he was better than Clint tonight. B for OO.

John Collins was awful tonight. 5 points, and 2 rebounds on 2/10 shooting!! This included 0/6 from three!!! I thought John’s three-pointer was back after an awful season shooting-wise. He hit ¾ last game but he, unfortunately, proved me wrong tonight. His biggest highlight was a midrange shot with under 6 in the fourth. Bridges hit a few shots over him but I thought he got decent contests on them. The rebounding recently is very bizarre. At least in the early games of the season where he was not playing well on offense, John could at least grab 7-8 rebounds. Now he isn’t even rebounding anymore. Maybe it could be a scheme thing as OO rebounds have picked up? I still think most of it is on him. Bottom line is he has to play better. I think it could be a mental thing with him being in trade rumors for years. I hope he works on his game in the offseason and fixes his weaknesses because this season as a whole has not been a good look for him. I understand why fans want to trade him and I’m open to trading him from the right pickles or player. That said, I am still a big supporter of JC and I still think he has a lot to offer the team. I also think he would fit better with OO when the team gives him the keys. His play this season has been hard to watch. F for JC tonight.

We play the Mavericks Sunday. They will be coming off a back-to-back so we should be able to push ourselves back to .500. Luka and Kyrie haven’t been great together, however looking at our schedule we have no freebies examples being Spurs, Rockets, and Pistons. It should be fun to watch. I’ll see yall there at 6 pm.

  19. ATLevator

We always bring that clapped Cheeks energy son.

  20. WubblyJubblyX

I literally cannot believe we are still at .500, at this point I don’t even care if we lose I’m just tired of this cycle of mid

  21. Storm_Song

I thought the Indiana Pacers from a couple of years back were a talented team. They were simply never healthy and eventually were broken up with most of the parts scattered to the wind. Of course, they aren’t currently any better because of it…but they are younger and seemingly healthier. That being said, something on this squad just isn’t working and it isn’t simply one players fault. If we coninue to flounder, something will have to give. Particularly with our shiney new coach.

  22. No worries, we did this to destroy Mavs tomorrow.

  23. Extra_Percentage

Did we really make a mistake trading for trae? Is Luka better?
