UCLA Kevon was a different beast but no one anticipated him being the kind of loonGOD he is now

  2. shanks_you

You canā€™t expect a 45 year old man doing that regularly in a high level NBA game

  3. I will say, everyone says he was fucked by injuries and bad hips, but even in these clips thereā€™s no way these move are quick enough for the nba, even as a youngster. Heā€™s always been slow, and his release has always taken way too long.

Either way, credit to him to redesign his game to become greatness.

Man I knew he was different before his hip injuries but I didnā€™t know he was ā€œcrossover pullback into a jump shotā€ different šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

  5. ball_fondler510

Watch his high school highlights. The man was a bucket

  6. Sweetbeansmcgee

Most nba players have a jumper that would be considered wet at most levels of basketball. It’s just that you have to he insanely good to justify taking them in a game where you’re playing with elite shooters

  7. cock-a-dooodle-do

I hope you realize that **almost** every NBA player (even the worst player out of 450 players) has a jumper.

  8. nghbrhd_slackr87

Looney was always gonna be a stretch four until the injuries and our lack of bigs in 2019 changed the way we thought of him.

  9. danbill31

He was compared to Kevin Durant coming into the draft.

  10. He was doing this against the raptors in 2019 if you watched for it.

  11. Tankzy559

His draft comparison was a poor manā€™s KD lol

  12. liteshadow4

If Kevon Looney didn’t have degenerative hips he could have been the next KD.

  13. eugoogilizer

To be fair this was against college competition. That plus injuries wouldnā€™t make Looney a viable jump shooter these days. His game now is perfect for us with his hustle, defensive presence in the paint, and board monster! #Loongod

  14. 75DubFan

He has a nice shot, but when youā€™re playing with 41% 3 pt- shooters you pass the ball!

  15. Purple-Welder3639

Problem is heā€™ll be taking those same shots away from steph and klay. And after years of accepting a lesser role, youā€™re just not as comfortable with those same moves at the NBA level. Reminds me of that clip of Bradley Beal where he said just scoring wonā€™t get you anywhere. To be the #1 or 2 option on any NBA team is a position very few players get

  16. Accurate_Door_6911

Itā€™s crazy how good of a nba defender heā€™s turned out with those slow hips, even in these moves, theyā€™re a bit choppy, but his iq is so high

  17. Infamous_Trip842

Before like 48 hip injuries Loonā€™s bag was crazy!!! He had a light KD comp coming outta HS

  18. Rsardinia

If Loongod can just find a mid jumper game he would be such a weapon to compliment our shooters

  19. I_dont_eat_animals_

His HS mixtape reminded me of KD

  20. Foxisdabest

Looney was projected as a high number pick on his draft class, but fell off because of injuries.

Looney would have been a freaking star had he been Born with the athleticism of someone like Wiseman.

Literally everything he does out there on the court is based on his BBIQ, because he just doesn’t have the athletic gift that other players in the league have.

  21. HorrorScopeZ

Looney with the ball thinking, I’m a multi-time NBA champion and these people are just nothing to me.

  22. Justhere4theupvotes

I honestly wish heā€™d hoist a three every so often. Iā€™m confident he could nail a few. Heā€™s wide open for chrissake.

  23. Yeah but bc of the time and team we got, we pigeonholed him into a Dennis rodman type role which is what we were gonna or tried to do with Wiseman

  24. Redditforever12

injuries made it difficult for him to do this stuff now

  25. BobbyRalston

Led the PAC-12 in 3pt % in his one year at UCLA.

  26. SettledWater

He wasnt a center, right? I think he completely transformed his game to be the player he is know..I remember Kerr commenting on it

  27. __BlackSheep

I guess you don’t remember but his first NBA bucket was a crossover pull up jumper at the elbow.

I have no idea why that stuck with me his whole career. I didn’t expect him to last long.

  28. He could still shoot those jumpers after getting those hip surgeries. He just had to sacrifice his skills so he can screen for Steph.

  29. This_Cable_5849

He was a guard his whole career until like his senior year when he grew 4 inches
