The Dallas Mavericks Made a HUGE Mistake

The Dallas Mavericks are in free fall right now. They currently sit in the 11th seed of the Western Conference and are on the outside looking in for the NBA Playoffs. When the Mavericks acquired Kyrie Irving at the trade deadline to pair with Luka Doncic, they likely thought this would be the move to vault them into championship contention. Instead its looking like it was a giant mistake…

  1. Mark Cuban wasted the last 4 years of Dirks prime. Dirk and Luka's greatness really mask how terrible he's been at roster building for yearssss

  2. As a Mavs Fan I so Disappointed with how the season is turning out and you would think by adding Kyrie we would be better but we just gotten worse with him

  3. Anytime you take the cancer which is kyrie you are bound to be in a bad spot. This season is a washout. They will be fine when they pick up a few more players. They gave up a lot to get Mr stupid

  4. If the GM of your team suggests trading for Kyrie Irving, you want them to be fired immediately at this point.

As a man, as a person, and a human being, I believe in Kyrie and the things he stands for. But he's shown his butt too many times for my taste, and as a basketball fan I'm so thankful that he's flaming himself out; because yes I have politics and beliefs but NOT IN MY SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT (two of the things that bring people together more than the things that separate them).

The public eye is simply not good for Kyrie Irving the human being.

  5. Only way to rectify the season is to manage keeping our pick. We're currently projected to do that and losing the rest of our games will help prevent the off chance of falling in the lottery. If Kyrie walks, we need to look into more defense in Free Agency and developing Hardy into a Secondary Ball Handler.

  6. this is slowly becoming one of my favourite NBA YouTube channels. great work guys. oh and btw – the greatest shooter of all time has the leeway to take ANY "bad" shot.

  7. I think Luka's fat, and he needs to take care of his body, because if he's burnout his mind will crumble. Plus that coach who likes to make his players miserable. Blaming Kyrie is making excuses for their leader, Luka, he should be able to tame Kyrie's ways.

  8. Cuban has a record of lowballing good players and breaking good and great teams:
    – Nash in 2004 (later 2 time MVP and made the Suns a contender for 6 years in a loaded West).
    – Tyson Chandler in 2011 (he became DPOY and was just as good in NY).
    – Barea in 2011 (he wasn't a star by any means but he was crucial to that championship run).

  9. Bruh this video🤦🏽. Players always are expected to play better during their contract years to secure the bag. Its always a thing, not that its bad. Also not to say the brunson’s peak was only going to be that specific year…

  10. I still can’t believe they were a 4th seed, and all of a sudden they are under the thunder and out the playoffs 😭

  11. Kyrie is walking in free agency and he’s gonna take a paycut to play with bron and ad. DLo is probably a better fit but I’d rather have Kyrie and Bron than bron and dlo

  12. Only the Mavs would make such a stupid decision. You love to see it. Bum franchise

  13. that OKC comeback win vs Dallas overtime (Isaiah Joe game) was huge win for us OKC fans one of the biggest of the season if OKC and DAL end on the same record.

  14. Did Dallas make a huge mistake?
    Short answer: Yes.
    Long answer: YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  15. Commenting for Algorithm and I like ego waffles and think Cody Rhodes should have beat Roman

  16. Theyre not in crisis mode. They were never really a contender. Last year they took advantage of matchups qand teams like denver having down years. They did however mismanage their assets making their future grim. Honestly they might want to get out ahead and trade luka for a young star and 10,000 first round picks but you know they wont.

  17. completely agree about the luka statement. loved watching him torch the clippers during the playoffs in 2020 and 2021 and go on the wcf run last year but this year im starting to dislike him more and more. hes so good but complains so much

  18. It's like the Mavericks are the anti-Warriors – a PG that needs the ball in their hands at all times and aren't that great off ball, lack of ball movement, and poor team defense

  19. Even though Kyrie hasn’t played bad, I have no idea why you’d ever bring him into your organization for the purpose of winning. The only person who can play winning basketball with Kyrie Irving is LeGM James. Both the Celtics and Nets were worse off with him.

  20. I seriously think you guys should cover the day Kobe played his final game ESPECIALLY with it lining up at the exact same time the Golden State Warriors were about to become the team with the all time best record in NBA history! No one was able to predict this happening but the NBA still could’ve left Kobe’s last game to be the only one that fell on that day since he obviously was going to retire that year. I, and most likely many others, would love to hear you guys talk about what you remember from both historic games along with the associated bad luck in terms of their timing with each other!

  21. 6:20 I'd argue Harden and Cp3 were ball dominant players in 2018, but cp3s desperation to win a ring meant he was more than happy to sacrifice and become better off ball. I feel like every time teams try and create these ball dominant backcourts their expectations are the 2018 rockets. But the reality is usually the 2019 rockets where harden went ultra selfish and cp3 and every other player on the rockets became a statue on offence

  22. Unless they can pull off a crazy roster build catering more towards defense, like you said. I think they sell high with Luka and Kyrie. Because they have them under contract they can get so much for Luka.

  23. Luka needs to pull a KD/KG/LeBron. And ain't nobody better say shiz about it. This man deserves rings.

  24. “Mavericks need to, Mavericks need to”…We know for a fact they won’t do what they need to do! Luka is gone. 😂😂😂

  25. 1:42 The mavs didn't want Brunson, if you hear the guy talk he doesn't sound like he would jeopardize the franchise for leverage on a contract, to me it sounds like Dallas wanted an excuse to not pay him

  26. I love this channel. You guys are a real gem and I found yall coincidentally. Please keep making consistent quality videos.

  27. I die on the inside with every one of these uploads.
Hang in there fellow mffl‘rs 😞

  28. Well "nothing ventured, nothing gained." They took a wild trade deadline risk to try and improve and it failed. If building around Luka you need to do it the right way. Luka is the point guard. They didn't need Kyrie. Get Luka a shooter/scorer at the 2, some defenders and rim protectors, a capable bench and this team can shine. Some might say THIS team plays better without Luka. They said the same when Brunson was at PG when Luka was out last season. But that's not to do with Luka. You need to build around him the right way. Dallas saw more success last season with Luka and Brunson on the floor together because Brun could also play the 2 and knew how to fill a role. Kyrie is not that dude. Kyrie does nothing for this team with Luka on it. If Kyrie were in the twilight of his career coming off the bench or capable of playing the 2 in a meaningful way…great. But this team would still desperately lack defense and consistent role players.

It's a chemistry thing. Like oil and water Luka and Kyrie don't mix. Or in this case its too much of the same ingredients. Luka needs the ball in his hands and needs to run the offense and lead the team. Good as Kyrie is the Mavs don't need him or anyone like him in the starting line-up. Can we see Curry starting with Kyrie? How about Daim or Ja? D'Lo or Westbrook? Of course not. That would be ridiculous. And so to is this pairing.

All in all the Mavs aren't out much for a failed experiment. What will and can they do going forward is the question? One thing is for sure and that is they have three more seasons to build around and use a generational talent like Luka the right way. That includes coaching. And Luka is still young. If the Mavs can't get it done over the next couple of seasons they may very well find themselves in rebuild mode with Luka wasting away as their biggest asset. And they'll be forced to trade him. Which would be a shame and a waste.
