If you compare their starting 5s then to now, very different teams lol
Just as fake a start as ours
gaucho_boy
I wouldn’t pile on the Jazz lol.
They did everything possible to tank, that team was really good.

Jazz are only in this position because they gave us part of their lineup and the rest are injured
Trillman04
You know what I forgot that the Jazz gave us massive help with Vando and Beasley. I’m gonna cut them some slack
awntawn
The scheduling this year was a mess, and not enough people are talking about it.
The league completely changed the way they scheduled the games this year, making it much less random and having teams play the same opponents over and over again. They claim that it was to reduce travel, but a huge part of it was also to manipulate standings to look more competitive throughout the year. It’s not a coincidence that teams that were hot at the start look like trash now, and vice versa. The Lakers’ schedule for first half of the season was absolutely brutal, and they’re basically just making up for it now.

Once the jazz got injured they waived a white flag. They’d be a playoff team if they didn’t do so. They ranked hard on purpose

U could say we had a pretty fake start too 😉

that’s why you don’t judge on the start of the regular season.

2-10 for crying out loud, If you weren’t there then, don’t show up at the parade 😭😭😭
adocileengineer
The Jazz were legit until they blew it up. Conley was the vet PG controlling the game. Lauri and Kessler were the young studs. Clarkson and Beasley were the microwave scoring guards. Vando was doing his thing. They could’ve made the playoffs in the West if they wanted to.
zhard01
So did we

Its not how you start, its how you end your season. This applies to every sport.

Dame is on the Mount Rushmore of undeserved confidence guys in NBA history.
Jazz and Blazers are in a different place now, but back then they were going at full strength.
The other 10 teams are all likely going to be in the playoffs. Maybe Wolves and Pelicans end up in play-in, but still.
Obviously the Lakers sucked, and could’ve done a better job than going 2-10. But still that is a hell of a stretch. And that’s why the Lakers had one of the easiest remaining schedules in Feb and March.

Nothing was fake, it was just a snapshot in time.

Rockets on the other hand are who we thought they were.
