Luka Šamanić Had A Solid Debut For Jazz

Luka Samanic scored 9 points and had 9 rebounds with four assists as the Utah Jazz beat the SanAntonio Spurs, 128-117. Tonight, he went 2-8 from the field, but added nine rebounds and a surprising four assists. New 10-day signing Luka Samanic is an interesting case. He was picked No. 19 by the Spurs in the 2019 NBA Draft. At the time, pretty much everyone thought it was an overdraft, but also pretty much everyone knows the Spurs’ track record of developing international guys into good players, so gave them the benefit of the doubt.

  1. Hes been pretty dominant in the G League. Not afraid to drive, can hit trees, got size, think he needs a real good chance, plenty of potential.

  2. There was a reason the Spurs cut him. If he has changed his attitude around then he'll be great. He constantly would look dejected and jog back if he made a mistake

  3. I can tell you he was not good with the Spurs, waste of pick if you ask me, actually Spurs now have Mamukelashvili and he is something like they want from Samanic then. Maybe he is more mature now with the game, he can be some role player in NBA

  4. When he entered the league he wasn't ready for the league. Too skinny, bad shot selection, no defense…etc. No one expected him to be playing on that Spurs Roster because there were too many vets on the team and they were fighting for a playoff spot. We all knew he is going to the G league for his development. He was dominating the G league bubble, I believed he was top 15-20 in scoring and rebounding. To be honest, the Spurs didn't give him a chance to prove what he is capable of and then cut him due to his attitude on the floor, like giving up on defense and fast break. Right now, he just needs to show his professionalism and play like a pro. As a Spurs fan, I'd love to see him prove himself and show the Spurs they are wrong about him.

  5. I know he sucked when we had him in San Antonio, but this year would have been the perfect year for his development. Another thing that irked me is that he seemed to get no love whatsoever. When he was on the Spurs it was always Keldon, Keldon, Keldon, and I would think that that would hurt anyone's morale. For a guy who was new to the American environment, it seemed like he was timid and felt unwanted in San Antonio. Don't get me wrong he was not good at all when he had play time (literally none) , but it would have been nice to blow up the team a while ago to give him time to shine.

  6. He needed somewhere that was actually going to play him. Utah might be the place for him if he’s going to be getting 20+ min a game. He’s gotten more tats and looks like he’s actually gained more muscle too. Hoping he sticks around in the league.
