For all his faults Kidd is an excellent players coach, players have his back, wich might be bad thing because he is dogshit at everything else coaching related lol.

Once Nico vouched for him I knew it was over. JKidd does not deserve to be the head coach but he has too much support. If that’s the case then we need a rock solid assistant coaching staff.

Well then what’s the excuse for this years horrible record? Is it not head coach?! Did nobody watch the games? So many close games were decided by just a few points, that’s screams coaching to me. We have pretty much the same players from last year (Kyrie was brought in really late in the season so he’s not the excuse)
I wonder if our internal guys are aware that there are these things called “standings” where Wins and Losses are officially tracked and everyone can see them. It’s hard to ignore the connection there.

2 years ago the hivemind here said that a hard-ass X and Os coach would run Luka out of town and that we needed to hire a player’s coach, that helped lure FAs and made connections in the league while empowering Luka.
Now, the hivemind says that a player’s coach is dumb, Luka is running amok and we need an X and Os guy that brings discipline and accountability.
Naturally, the hivemind is still desperate to please Luka at any possible way…while, at the same time, calling for the head of the coaching staff that Luka reportedly likes.
Almost like the players and FO know more about their long term plans than Reddit or Twitter…sorry arm chair GMs but if u can’t even win ur fantasy basketball league with ur old high school buddies who still think Len Bias would’ve been the goat if he hadn’t pasta way then u probably don’t watch enough Rick and Morty to understand the 5D chess the Mavs FO is doing

I’m sure Kidd acts differently behind the scenes vs what he presents to media. And as fans, our only link to the team is what is presented through the media. Cuban has always tried to prevent leaks and Kidd is following orders by giving all the shitty responses and sound bites, not letting anyone know what is actually going on with the team. Unfortunately, he’s not going anywhere. I think he sucks mainly based on his crap rotations, lack of adjustments, and him being the primary reason McGee was brought in. Hopefully we bring in a new assistant coach to make some changes, but I expect very little to change.
Anybody with a brain knows that. Fans are fans for a reason, because we know alot less then we think we do.

I think people are overestimating what it means to be a players’ coach.
Let’s face it, Steve Nash was a pushover in Brooklyn and he didn’t the support or respect of the players.
Realistically, letting the players run the show and then losing a bunch of games is not going to endear you to the players. Luka would likely much rather win than have a guy let him do whatever he wants. Player friendly coaches still have to earn the trust and respect and that generally means they are working hard behind the scenes and the players approve of what they’re doing.
As much as we like to bash Kidd, the reality internally is likely very different from what many people here imagine.
I think the criticism kidd has gotten has been extreme yes theres been five or six games where we can put the blame on him. Yes that makes a difference rn. But look at our roster look how terrible our roster is compared to our opponents. Before the kyrie trade imagine if luka had to miss the season due to injury what is our record? Luka and kidd our making a lottery team almost .500 its so unrealistic this roster is bad.
