Need to shut him down, and let him get a long rest this off-season. Re energize and be ready next year. But we have to get him some help on defense and rebounding.

Dude loves his country I get it, but he will not have real NBA success unless he takes the off-season seriously. From preparation, fitness and rest standpoints.

I understand he might be exhausted but his defenses is mostly lack of effort/focus.
He will look uninterested on defense, next possession on offense, he is going full cowling on the next possession.
So yea, he doesn’t care about defense.
LandogH
well he said he also has to be better at complaining to the refs when he was on JJ Redick’s podcast over a year ago so i’ll believe it when i see it

It’s not even poor defense though. It’s mainly just getting back on defense. Like as long as he tries it’s whatever if he gets cooked. The issue is he just doesn’t try

idk why this just made me so sad.

Luka acknowledging a problem and not doing anything about it for the millionth time in five years. He’s a very, very frustrating character.
Basketball careers are short. Luka’s might end up as an “if only” career full of excuses.

Sometimes, you give up things. He needs to decide what he wants. If he is going to keep playing all nba season, then playing most of the summer, the cycle will continue of good individual stats, trashy defence and complaining all the fucking time and no NBA rings.
The greats rebuild themselves in the offseason and work on the things they need to. Follow lebrons offseasons he has had over his career. The shit he would do is wild. One year he cut meat out of his diet.
Luka acknowledges what he needs to work on, but it barely changes. This is what? The third year he says he needs to get better on defence?
He would rather play in europe every offseason then spend time on the things he needs work on so they are better for the next NBA season.
Im not convinced he wants to actually play in the NBA, i think he would much rather commit to europe ball.

This is a big reason why I want to try and protect the pick this. He’s GONNA be better next year, he KNOWS it hasn’t been great.
The real question is if we have the assets to build a better roster that contends with some of these western juggernauts

I’m not sure what playing 4 straight years has to do with complaining to the refs every other possession and not getting back on defense. Nothing will change until this behavior is addressed.

He played great defense on Trae last game so we know he can do it if he puts in the effort. Just gotta get his conditioning up and stop complaining to the refs after every damn play.
ShassaFrassa
I get what he’s saying but if he calms down with the complaining and is more collected with the missed calls, it could lead to some good defensive possessions just off the virtue of not playing 4-on-5 in transition.

Luka deserves blame, no doubt about it. But the key is get players who allow your stars be stars. Luka needs to learn to play with less ball domination. But the key is to do what Jokic did to start the season. He eased into the season and then played some of his best basketball of his career as the year went on. Can we get the right pieces around Luka where we can win and flourish if he takes 10 shots? Maybe 18 points and 13 assists with him playing a B level game.
