What Would The Mavs’ Future Look Like If Kyrie Stays In Dallas? | The Get Right

After a recent loss to the 76ers, Kyrie Irving made some eyebrow-raising comments about his future with the Mavericks. If Kyrie was to stay in Dallas long term, what would his fit with Luka look like? Would they be as inconsistent as this year?

  1. The media can continue to make the injury excuse but bottom line is these two don’t play well together. It really hurts losing DFS when the rest of the team struggles defensively. If the Mavs are going to build around Luka, they need rebounding, defense and spot up shooters.

  2. dallas has got to get better on defense, either u keep luka or kyrie and build around them with defense and scorers,

  3. So I actually disagree that they need a lot. No matter what Kyrie does they need to draft Hendricks huge defensive forward great defense can block shots and guards the perimeter can shoot the 3 but he is also athletic as hell. He’s 6’9 with like a 7’2-7’4 wing span he’s ridiculous. Then you trade a Bertans ( not fully guaranteed contract so it’s basically expiring 17m ) add Bullock to that as well ( another non guaranteed at about 10m ) both extremely easy assets to trade especially to teams wanting to get off guaranteed contracts go get another big wing who can play the 3 and can defend and is 6’7+. The center your best best bet is to trade THJ + Josh Green and your 2027 1st because THJ will only have a year left so easier to move now, Green is young and go trade that for a legit defensive anchor rebounding center he doesn’t have to be able to spread the floor your back up can be the guy who can. Still would have your MLE and can fill out the bench with that and some vet min guys. So your bench will be if nobody else gets traded of course would consist of Hardy, Maxi, McGee plus your MLE & your vet min guy

  4. Competitive. In the race for the grand salami. Ya feel me!? Open y'alls vision. With a summer and editions to the defense we will be a threat to win it all!

  5. The only hope is a sign and trade for players the Mavs actually need. The problem is who TF would want Kyrie.

  6. I don’t think they need as many pieces as y’all think they do. I keep hearing people bring up the defense, before the amount of points this team is scoring it is like .2 a problem. first of all, I think most of their issues psychological more than talent. Too many players on this team is comfortable being an NPC. Powell doesn’t even try to boost his own numbers, just pick and roll and screen, at least he’s looking for the ball now. Josh Green is a damn good player when no one else is on the court with him. Would put up the numbers, but he gets lost in the scheme, defensively all the time, but at least he’ll fight for blocks and rebounds. In the majority of their games is still 2 to 4 points off. If they come back next season, with a faster pace offense, a higher tempo offense, maybe, and have the second/third squad slow the pace to a crawl they may could offset the loss of lead that always occur. Go more for points in the Paint, and force them to have to make above average on threes while the stars are out.

  7. If the 2023 Mavs were a franchise in a video game the best course of action would probably be deleting the file

  8. Really all the mavs need is an actual starting center not starting Dwight powell

  9. Mavs need to make a trade package of Bertans, Hardaway, Bullock and try to sell them for 2nd round picks or somethign to some team with cap space… If they succed to do this they can sign Kyrie to max and also remain 30 MIO extra for free agents. For 30 mio you should get 3 solid pieces to add next to kyrie and luka ( all should be able to play good to great defence). 1 C, 2 big wings, then with Luka, Kyrie, Hardy, Green, Kleber and 3 new signings from free agents you have 8 players that can be used, you have center and 2 big wings that are missed right now. You also still have chace to sign players that are not drafter… so it is hard job for front office but they are paid to do this and should do their job.. so no excuse like it is not possbile… i nto acceptable…
