So basically if the warriors or clippers win Friday/Saturday after todays game we need to win out.

  2. probotic

This is great! I just spent 30 minutes doing this in my head and still missed many of these scenarios.

  3. Cogentleman

Regardless of if we win the chip or lose out and get blown out in round one, I feel convinced the right thing to do is bring back this same squad as best as can be afforded and run it back next year.

  4. crispchestpass

one of the 9 seed scenarios isn’t possible. specifically, the one that has the pelicans and the wolves winning out, as they play eachother.

  5. LAFAN4LYFE

I’m looking forward to seeing this core mature together.

  6. ARClNGSS

I just don’t want the Warriors to get the 6th seed. That team always gets a easy path with injuries or unserious teams.

After the one correction as pointed out, Mods should sticky this post and OP keep updating with each game! Super helpful

Great post! Assuming all the scenarios are equally as likely (not true but I’m not going through the hassle of calculating the odds on every scenario)

    – 10% chance at 9 seed

    – 25% chance of 8 seed

    – 30% chance of 7 seed

    – 25% chance of 6 seed

    – 10% chance of 5 seed

Edit: Again don’t take these odds seriously, not every scenario is as likely and we’re missing the scenarios in which Lakers win out (guarantees them 5 or 6). [Fivethirtyeight gives us a 92% chance to make the playoffs](https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2023-nba-predictions/lakers/) but I think that’s including the odds we get in through the playin

Mods please pin so all the other posts can stop. This is great op

What if we beat LAC and then lose out? That scenario isn’t included

This shows how important tonight’s game is. We control our destiny more w a win rather than relying on other teams playing other games. I hope lebron n AD see this!!

  13. Flow8405

legend. now i kind of want the 1st listed 6 seed scenario to play out. if lakers lose tonight

lakers lose vs clips, win out, warriors lose 1, clippers win at least 1

  14. spidey_valkyrie

Good work. It feels good knowing that realistic worst case, (i’m not entertaining lakers losing out) is really the 8th seed.

  15. blu_marlin

Thanks for your work here. It is nice to see this on paper.

Heroes don’t wear capes.. they post this clutch information on the Lakers subreddit. I salute you sir đŸ«Ą

  17. Fuck u to all nba redditers saying Lakers fans aren’t true Fanatics. This dude is a prime example of being a fanatic.

  18. richard_golbes

Can you fix the error that was pointed out and repost?

This is very helpful, thank you.

  19. yoyoyocoolcatbromate

Missing if we beat LAC and lose the next two.

  20. joey5280

Thanks for this, literally couldn’t find a 6th seed scenario anywhere

  21. Thanks for making this chart, it’s way better than me randomly guessing lol

  22. sshadowalkerr

fuck it we getting the 1st seed at this rate

  23. GamerRav

Really good work OP. I mean looking at this it’s pretty clear, tonight is about as much of a must win as it can be without it actually being a must win. A win today gives us a phenomenal chance of avoiding the play-in. A loss almost guarantees we will be in the play-in.

  24. CultExterminator

I think we all want to beat the Clippers and also retain the 6th seed. So our best outcome is Section 2.B2.C1. If we want the Clippers to play the Suns then Section 2.B1.C2.
