Spurs get even more screwed than us. They desperately need one of Scoot or Wemby cause they don’t have a star talent like Jalen Green or Cade, or even an Ivey/Jabari

Until they do the lottery in public viewing, I will always assume there’s some sort of rigging going on.

Yeesh… if this nightmare fever dream comes to pass, I guess just swing for the highest upside guy or package and trade for a young core piece.

Personal opinion (as a proud Houston Cougar): if we DO fall way down in the draft, snag Jarace. I am admitting my bias here but I swear, the dude is 8ft tall, 500lbs, 3% body fat, runs like a gazelle and has handles.

We basically need a top 3 pick, odds suck but we have the best odds we can get at least

Unfortunately there’s not too much data on the new draft lottery odds but since it was put in place starting in the 2019 draft:

the worse team has never got the 1st pick

the 2nd worse has got it twice (Paolo & Cade)

3rd worse got it once (Ant Edwards)

And the 8th[!!!] worse team got it once (Zion)

In that 2019 draft both the pelicans and grizzlies jumped up a ridiculous 7 spots to get their picks in Zion and Ja. Who fucking knows how it’ll play out this year.

If we don’t get a top 4 pick we should probably trade it imo

If we don’t get a top 3 pick, we shop it and see what kind of veterans we can get.

Hell, if the pick is 2 or 3, I’m still listening to offers. When Golden State was sitting on the #2 pick, there were hot takes about trading the pick for guys like Eric Bledsoe, Kelly Oubre, or Bogdanovich. (I even saw a place suggest the Rockets trade PJ Tucker and Robert Covington for Wiggins and the 2nd pick)

I don’t know how realistic any of those ideas were, but that does tell me that we could be able to flip that pick for a quality veteran that will do more for this team than YET ANOTHER young talent that might become great with enough development time.

We’re at the point where we need to try our hardest to play competitive basketball so we can see which of our core rises and who is only playing well now because there’s no stakes.

I mean we know the odds, it’s just math. Just gotta hope for the best! (and try not to internally panic on the days leading up to the draw)

Do you think there is a chance the team is drafting 1st this year is not gonna draft Wemby after seeing how players like Zion struggling with injuries.

Tankathon only buys you a ticket to the raffle.

Because there is over 40% chance we won’t get top 4 picks. We got lucky the last two years.
