In Episode 1375, Sean Woodley is joined by Jamar Hinds (Raptors Republic) to break down the Toronto Raptors disheartening 97-93 loss to the short-handed Boston Celtics in a game that will probably cost the Raptors a chance at the all-important 8th-seed in the Eastern Conference Play-in Tournament. Off the top, Sean and Jamar dig into what went wrong for the Raptors in the game. Their offensive process was mostly good, and their defense was certainly strong enough to beat the Jayson Tatum-less Celtics, but Fred VanVleet’s worst game since the Jakob Poeltl trade and a putrid night of outside shooting was what ultimately did in Toronto. Next, Sean and Jamar chat about the decision to play Precious Achiuwa over Jakob Poeltl late in the game, Nick Nurse’s baffling decision to keep Pascal Siakam out of the game until there were just four minutes to play, and another stinker of a night from the non-Achiuwa members of the Raptors bench, a tale we’ve seen play out all to often this season. Lastly, they run through the Good (Pascal Siakam’s excellent 28-11-4 effort, a killer early game sequence by O.G. Anunoby), the Bad (awful team shooting, Toronto’s struggles dealing with Boston’s double teams) and the Hmmm (Whether we can trust the Raptors at all to shoot capably in a play-in scenario, the Jeff Dowtin situation) to round out the show.

I swear you better not make up any excuses for Fred just how many games has he had this season, him chucking up bricks destroys this team we need to S&T him or definitely not resign him to a 30 mil contract and masai better focus on guards this season and shooting
Get this man off this team. The game was violent out there with all Fred’s bricks. He’s too toxic too. How do you go an entire shot clock and not make a single pass?
When your shooting bricks, talk on socials about how great you are when Yak has been the reason for some sort of resurgence is crazy.
If this game is not a referendum on Fred van Vleet, then the Charlotte game is not a referendum on Fred as well
This is why I wasn't too excited about Fred's 20/20. He has a tendency to show up against lesser teams, but folds against contenders. Where was that ball movement from Fred that we saw against Charlotte on Sunday.
Also, we are not angry at Fred. we all knew his abilities. we are angry at people who overprotect him. People who will compare him to people who are top 30 or top 20. people who overcompensate.
The more, people overcompensate to protect Fred. the more fans double down on their criticism towards Fred.
