I swear to god Reddit has some of the most disengaged fans out there. This team knows it hasn’t lived up to expectations, they are frustrated with themselves. You could see it in the way they played last night. First time all season I saw a sense of urgency from start to finish. All the media around this team is about the disappointing season and who is responsible. You have a player’s famous dad going out and talking about how Luka and Kyrie aren’t leaders.
Luka and Kyrie both agree that they are going to put in a max effort to make the playoffs. Despite what people in this sub may think, the season isn’t over. Even if Cuban was planning to move on from Kidd, why the fuck would he cause more controversy for the team right now? Cuban is making an ass of himself in the media about the Brunson situation so that the players aren’t wrapped up in what is being said about them.
They are trying to eliminate distractions, run out the rest of the season, make the play in, and take things day by day. Some of you should really go find somewhere else to belly ache because nothing you want to happen is going to happen. They aren’t going to tank, Kidd isn’t getting fired, and Mark Cuban will never shut the fuck up.

Wow he is really onto media and fans here: 1) no one asked about whether Kidd is coming back after first playoff series win in 11 years and WCF appearance for Mavs 2) but now they are asking it after Kidd brought Mavs to 11th seed in the west.

Jason Kidd is Jason Garrett. Cuban is Jerry Jones. The results is going to be the same — lots of talent, big holes in the team because the owner chases stars, and lots of play off runs that go nowhere. Cubes doesn’t realize that the Mavs fan can see this a mile away but he deluded himself into thinking that he will be different. That he’ll be the first owner/GM combo that will work. He doesn’t dream of the Mavs winning championships. He dreams of being inducted to the Hall of Fame himself.

I genuinely think we’re shitting on Kidd too much. Sure he has faults but he coached this team to the conference finals last year, surely that gives him more rope than one down year where he lost a massive piece of the team that went to that conference final. Kyrie just got here and we traded one of our best 3&D to get him here. Let this play out, if they miss the playoffs so be it. #1 priority is resigning Kyrie, then let them figure out how to get a real defensive C here.
