  1. I forgot that I saw a tweet from Ben DuBose re: this news that Rafael Stone was extended for next season given all the noise was about Silas not hearing from the owners or front office re: his future on the Rockets for which his existing contract is imminently expiring this season. This will inevitably mean a lot of pressure on Stone to make some waves this off-season (draft, free agency, trade market) including asset consolidation and filling huge needs positionally (point guard) and talent/asset consolidation.

Stone has this year to truly show his chops or he will be gone at the end of the following year.

Lot on his plate too with the coaching situation, multiple 1sts that could get traded, the Harden rumors. Big year time to stop hiding from the public and letting Silas tank the heat for you as well, you bought the extra year w/o Silas tied to your hip don’t fuck it up.

Don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t be back next year. This off-season is the beginning to see what he’s truly made of as a GM

I can’t believe anyone would even think twice about it.

He filled an empty cupboard that Morey had cleaned out taking title shots (not mad at him for it)

He straight up stole Alpi and Tari and KJ and even Gup may have a career

If you want to say he whiffed on Mobley I’d say there’s certainly an argument to be made, but I don’t think the story has been told in full yet

I always agreed with his handling of the Harden deal. We had nothing to build on, give me all the future picks over players that would only hurt tank odds

We’ve got the best shot at the best prospect in a long time

He worked out an incredibly team friendly deal with Scoot.

I think Stone has played his hand extremely well and I’m happy for him to keep building

  5. I think he should. He and his crew have shown great ability to gather young talent, but he will need to show he can sway vets.

He’s done a great job especially considering the pressure to rebuild, save $$, balance development with tanking, etc

Stone is good. No reason to believe otherwise. His drafting is unassailable. He’s crushed it in sub-prime draft slots. His trades have been savvy. Never mortgaged our future for the now. The “dysfunctional culture” is going to amend itself as our literal teenagers mature and become professional ball players.

Guys… it’s a tank job. Let’s all look in the mirror and understand that. He’s walked the line between worst team possible and exciting young future stars. Important note, he CLEARLY has not burned a bridge with the 2nd greatest rocket of all time, Harden. Stone is my GM.
