Boston Celtics prove a point, demolish Milwaukee Bucks; Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown combine for 70

The Celtics seemed to be pretty motivated Thursday night in Milwaukee and they proved it by beating the Bucks by 41 points. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown dropped 70 combined points (they almost matched the entire Bucks team through 3 quarters) to show us all that they know exactly where the switch is an how to flip it. John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal gets into that, why the matchups are really in Boston’s favor against Milwaukee, and how their record against good teams shows we shouldn’t worry about any other losses as the regular season winds down.

  1. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 no way you believe this is indicative of playoff series. Scheduling did bucks dirty scheduling this game this late in season coming off a back to neck while other team has a day of rest.

  2. The C’s are so inconsistent, but they are clearly the BEST team in the league if they play to their potential. . . This causes such a love/hate relationship lol.

  3. It’s too early to admit that, we know the Celtics can play like this but you can’t ignore all the bad and unfocused games and the fact that JT was struggling based off one game. And JT was due to have a gr8 game after a lot of inconsistent basketball and we know JB is usually consistent. We just focused, played gr8 defense, 2 stars played their best, good contribution from others Rob, Al and Brodgan specifically. But can this happen over a span of games and then lead us to the playoffs and also the big question have the consistent contribution and play our best basketball more often then not. We knew the Celtics is the best team at their best, that isn’t new. Bucks played 5 games in 7 nights but still were at home and def were bothered, but over 3 games we proved that we bother them the most, that I knew from the first 2 matchups. No half ass team who’s bored sometimes and show up for the best games end up winning the championship. If you’re asking or telling a professional basketball team with great players to care enough and you can be your best then there’s a huge problem there. Injuries happen and stuff but the intensity for a long period of time like last year In the 2nd half of last szn doesn’t always stay for a long streak and that’s even more worried about then a team with good habits, take care of business and play good basketball but not gr8. Ik it’s closer the end of the szn and we do want to be healthy more than anything but the lazy games we had which was more then a few existed and bad habits often repeat itself. I just don’t think all of our problems went away because of this one game, but a good thing is look how good we are when we play our best basketball but we will need to play atleast clean and good team basketball over a few games and our bad games can’t look that bad

  4. The point is there are no back to back in the playoffs they not gonna see a tired Bucks team and they not gonna shoot 51% from 3 so you can’t take anything from this game just like you can’t take nothing from any other game playoff and regular season two different seasons

  5. Boston CELTICs have been most consist this season they were consistent last year and the beginning of this one ! They have only dropped a few games because they were simply picking and choosing when they would display their greatness as they dealt with healthy issues from various players especially having to be without defensive anchors in Marcus & Robert at several stretches! They shall get it together putting all they have learned into their team's mindset to win it all this POST Season!!! CELTICs is the most consistently growing team for the last few years and they have been putting the work on all fronts to accomplish goals despite the many hurdles that had stood in the path!

  6. Back-to-back or not, everybody wanted to see what Boston and Milwaukee were going to do against each other. Boston sent a message and made a statement that home or away, they can beat Milwaukee. I think Middleton is not the same guy he was two years ago. Also, Javon Carter, Grayson Allen and Joe Ingles are liabilities into defense.

  7. The only thing the Celtics proved against Milwaukee (March 30th) was: they'll beat Milwaukee when they shoot well. They've had far too many nights when they don't ratchet up their effort to compensate for bad shooting for me to put any stock into this single win.

  8. Congratulations on the win! I must say that the Milwaukee Bucks didn't just play just any regular back to back game, their game against the Pacers was extremely physical and draining. I mean Giannis and Jrue scoring 90 points together while the others played with intense high energy. Stevie Wonder could see how exhausted they were in this game. They played like they were lethargic. Not to mention that the Celtics already had a chip on their shoulders for that blowout loss to the Wizzards which is more of an embarrassment than getting blew out by a 2nd seed team. As good as the Celtics played. A Jr high school girls basketball team would've beaten the Bucks last night. These are not excuses, they are the facts. I'm just not convinced that the Celtics will beat a energized Bucks in a 7 games series..

  9. Visiting the US for the first time ever from Manchester, UK 🇬🇧. I’ve never seen the Celtics play before & I’ve got tickets to the last two games of the season. I feel like a kid at Christmas 😂 I’m just praying that I get to see our starters in at least ONE of those games! Can’t wait ☘️

  10. John, what you're not getting is ( if healthy) Meyers Leonard will be actively playing in the playoffs. ( Who's also 7ft as Lopez) Don't count of this present match up to carry the Celtics through. Not to mention that they won't be competing with this extremely exhausted Bucks that any Jr. High school team could've beaten.

  11. Looks like the Celtics are a lock. I was wondering how many back to backs in the playoffs? Bucks are the oldest team in the league. Celtics should win EVERY back to back against the bucks in the playoffs.

  12. respectfully disagree john. every win counts. every win matters. wanting to go for 60+ wins matters. the bench has to learn to win despite adversity. so does the coaching staff. the whole team for that matter on off-nights. the team has to learn to grind out wins.

  13. Humbled bucks fan here. Ouch. We learned that if the Celtics could put together three to four quarters of hot-shooting they're unbeatable. Actually already knew that. Can they space the floor if the threes aren't dropping enough to have a paint game is the question. They won't always feel that way

  14. I know 40 points is a lot but this just didn't seem like the Bucks team we have been seeing all year.

  15. "You eat pieces of s*** for breakfast?"
    "…No!"

I used that series of HG lines you used to apologize to my first ex wife many times. She came to hate it.

  16. Don't be too hard on yourself, John. I was feeling same. I'm late getting to this podcast, and gonna go directly to Lockedon Bucks! I've been going directly to the other teams response directly after your's for a while now, and highly recommend it folks. It's always an interesting thing to do!

  17. I understand there is a difference in travel and rest between the c's and the bucks over their 5 games in 7 days but the bucks starters only played a total of 9 more minutes in the same stretch. I think its a bit of stretch that people are putting so much on the fact that the bucks were on a back to back when they should've been comparatively well rested. C's starters played a total of 554 minutes over 4 games while the bucks starters played 563 minutes over 5 games.

  18. What troubles me John is the fact that there are 14 games where they couldn’t find the switch and a series is 7 games more than enough room for a collapse…!🤦🏾‍♂️

  19. JK, thanks for what you do. Maybe you can get Keith Smith on to discuss the New CBA? More importantly, discuss what 140% now means for Jaylen Brown if he doesn't make AL-NBA. What are the new extension options this summer

  20. Bucks on the second night of a back-to-back; wouldn't get too excited bout this win.
