Bleacher can suck my whole dick we’re not breaking up the twins

  2. Kwilly462

It’s not a tough decision. Give him the money

  3. Hope Seth Curry finds a new home via FA. One he can finish his career on. Use savings towards Cam Johnson’s deal.

  4. zestysnacks

Easy answer pay him however much u need to to keep him. Do not let him walk

  5. BumFights1997

Definitely not a tough decision, obviously you keep your cornerstone guy’s best friend on the team duh

  6. skinneej

I don’t see getting another player at his level for less, so, it’s a pretty easy decision actually

Depends how he does if the nets make the playoffs.

This takes no thought. Give the man his money.

The article sort of mentions it, but the wrench in the gears here is that he’s a restricted FA, meaning other teams can make offers forcing the Nets to match if they want to keep him. Some of you might remember when Marks first took over he used this to his advantage from the other side of the table. He offered exorbitant contracts to Otto Porter and Tyler Johnson, not with the intention of signing them, but to force the hand of their teams to overpay them. I sense other teams will do the same to use with CJ and might push a 20+ mil/year offer to him, forcing us to match, and screw over our cap and roster for the next couple of years. (Then again, next season Spence, Joe, Royce, Clax, and Pattie are all on expirings so maybe Marks and Tsai won’t give a fuck.)

Not tough at all keep ‘em both. Everybody but Clax and the twins can go for right price as far as I’m concerned

Call me crazy but he’s worth $30m. Salary cap is going up 10% this year and w new CBA will continue to go up.

The weird thing about Johnson is that he’s 27, he was drafted at 23. This means he’s looking for his HUGE pay day bc he probably won’t get one at 31. Compare that to like RJ Barrett who is only 22, and was in the same draft class. Guys from the 2019 draft class who are 22/23 now can get 2 4 year deals, Johnson really has 1 left with him.

He’s obviously a starting player and $20m is the min imo. $20-25 is probably the range but think of a team like the Pistons or Magic or even Spurs who have been collecting some picks and assets over last few years and maybe not think about tanking. If you’re Pistons with Ivey/Cade/Wemby all on rookie contracts you can easily do Cam 3yr/90m and have a competitive team.

I know Nets fans want Johnson but Johnson wants the bag and unless Nets can do $25m+ a year I don’t know if Johnson stays.

  12. It’s not a tough decision, but also a bitter one. You have to do it. But Essentially you’ve locked the core of:

Mikal, Cam Johnson and Ben Simmons contract wise.

Then you obviously gotta give Claxton money. All of a sudden you’re turning into the Dallas Mavericks. 50m over the cap with a mid core.

But you also have to do it because otherwise you got nothing…you’re already over the cap.

They can get out of here with that they’re trying to distract us from the playoffs

  14. rabidantidentyte

Depends on how much he thinks he is worth. We’d obviously like to keep him. He and Mikal are definitely better together.

Lol this is an aggregated report about a [Bleacher Report listicle from LAST MONTH](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10070305-every-nba-teams-toughest-2023-free-agency-decision). Why are people reading this shit?

Aside from that, it’s not a tough decision in the slightest: Nets can match any contract offer. If they like him, they can keep him and that’s that.

For all the “concerns,” it’s as simple as this: He’s the franchise player’s best friend, and he also happens to be pretty damn good at basketball.
