[Pro Pels Talk] “He had gotten to 3-on-3 on court. And just didn’t feel the next day or the next two days after that the progression made sense. He hasn’t been re-injured. He hasn’t even reported soreness. It’s more of like a hesitancy.”

He’s basically going through what BI did, he probably could go through to 5-on-5 but his confidence is probably shot.
Seems he doesn’t want to play.
I won’t pretend to know what’s going on in Zion’s head, but I imagine that not being able to play in so long has taken a toll on his mental health.
There’s a shit load of pressure on him to be Zion, and do Zion things.
There’s the fear of getting injured again, and letting everyone down.
And there’s the fear of getting hurt and landing on the bench for another season.
I don’t envy Zion, or the position that he’s in.
That said, if he ever wants to practice dunking on people, I absolutely volunteer.
If he’s hesitant, it’s because something isn’t feeling right. Only thing to do is wait and take it slow.
This actually makes more sense than it sounds like. One of the tests for return to sport with a hamstring injury is called the H-test where you lay on your back and kick you leg up as hard as possible. If you feel any mental hesitancy, this is considered a fail and you are supposed to continue rehab. So, even if Zion’s other measurables are okay, if he isn’t feeling like it’s normal, he probably needs to keep rehabbing.
Why would anyone want to rush a player back when they don’t feel ready to play?
Look at Boston with IT and timelord. Those guys were never the same. You’d have to be crazy imo to risk that on Zion, for what? I think ppl saying we could “make a run” are being a bit foolish.
Though I don’t agree, I can appreciate his hesitancy if that’s truly the case. That said, he’s pain millions to play basketball. Short of an injury preventing you from being able to play, you need to play or you’re not honoring your contract as far as I’m concerned.
I think this brings more clarity to the situation.
