[Andrew Lopez] David Griffin on Zion Williamson: “I think it’s a matter of all the objective metrics we can have on where he is at and how he feels lining up. And to this point they haven’t.” Until that happens, Griff said, Z won’t be cleared for 5-on-5.

    >Said metrics are based on things they can measure in the weight room in terms of flexibility & court speed.

    >“Based on today, our best possible outcome if everything lined up perfectly maybe you’re in a position to practice prior to a 1st round or during a 1st round.”

50+ games missed because of a hamstring injury.

This team needs to figure out what the fuck to do with Zion to keep him healthy, because 114 games over four seasons is indefensible.

Something weird could be going on. Earlier Shams reported it was the team be overly cautious. Now griffin is saying its zion that’s not ready to go towards the next phase. That’s just me though.

  4. Yeah, I’m ready to get off the ride at this point. I’m not tying everything to TWO guys who have injury problems every year. To me, you need to choose one(I know which one I would), but this should no longer be designed around “hoping things that almost never happen, actually happen this time” going forward.

My problem is next year you’re about to pay this guy $30+ million dollars a year for the next 5 years.

He’s overweight guys. That’s what all this bullshit is. The hammy is structurally okay most likely but dude is out of shape. That’s how I’m reading all of these “updates”

I posted this on another thread, but it is may be more relevant here so I’ll just send it again:

It pains me how everyone talks about these injuries like they know what’s going on. We have NO idea the extent of the severity of any of these.

As someone who dealt with recurrent hamstring pulls for a few years, there are specific checkpoints you need to hit in order to progress to the next stage of recovery. If you rush that the likelihood of reinjury is SUPER high. Even if you don’t rush it and follow everything perfectly, hamstring reinjury is common. Depending on how bad it was 8 weeks from the reinjury isn’t a crazy amount of time. This doesn’t mean the staff is inept. It probably means the strain was pretty severe and hitting those strength and neuromuscular checkpoints is taking a long time.

Also, it IS NOT POSSIBLE to play through a hamstring injury in the NBA, especially if you are Zion who is dependent on speed/explosiveness. You literally can’t run at full speed. How effective would he be out there going 75%?

I don’t believe anything Griffin says. He has lied to us too many times to count.

I’m am beyond frustrated with the situation.

This is the offseason to trade Zion. Another season of missing 40 games and he’ll have zero trade value

A lot of word salad here. How about we get Zion to tell us what’s going on
