Carmelo exited in the first round all but one year, when Billups picked him up. Carmelo couldn't do anything, despite having multiple all-stars and a dpoy on his team. This is because he made it all about him. Chauncey even said the problem with Melo was that he cared more about scoring 30 than winning. Denver fans don't appreciate him. Ownership has changed since then. Carmelo didn't want to be a Nugget. Points aren't everything. We moved on, as Carmelo wanted. It's over. He's a Knick. We don't think of him as a Nugget. He didn't care about us. He only cared about him.

You're wasting your talents on this, Melo has been away from Denver for years and no ones cares if Melo gets his jersey retired here except maybe him. He forced his way out of Denver he has to except that. Jokic wasn't given the number to throw shade at Melo. Jokic took it and put his own spin on it, multiple MVP winner, several All Star appearances.Maybe just maybe, he can put the Nuggets on his back and bring home that illusive Championship ring to the Mile High City.
I seriously doubt the Nuggets believed after drafting Jokic he was going to end up the greatest player in the history of their franchise let's not forget Jokic was a second round pick but what reality has become is what reality is and at the end of the day their's really no one to blame it's just how things worked out.

Carmelo isn’t the best player as a Nugget. He dipped out on us here in Denver, we got no respect for that guy. He can go retire a knicks for all we care. We got a 3 time MVP, we good.

Jokic has worn the number 15 all his life. When he came to Denver the number was available. Where is the problem? Everyone should have the opportunity to leave a legacy. No one could have predicted what would happen.

There are a lot of players who did more of their teams, took them to championship games, played their whole careers with them and are in the Hall who don’t have their numbers retired (Dick Butkus, Mike Singletary AND Brian Urlacher for the Bears). I don’t think it’s that big a deal especially considering Melo forced a trade to get to New York to please his clout chasing then-wife. We alll got bigger problems. Melo gonna be aiight.
