I’m unfortunately reminded of his post-trade deadline presser where he pivoted on these comments by saying that Tampa’s play-in was one thing and this is another and he’ll reassess his opinion of it at the end of the season.
He also talked about being patient which I found unconvincing given the context of the trade deadline. If you want to win a championship, sometimes you have to take a few steps back to move forward. Trade players to recoup assets after bleeding talent for years, and use the draft to restock the team.
It’s been so strange to see a team that previously only used 1st rounders when we had an establish 50-win core to using 1st rounders just to make the play-in/1st round.
