Also, while Kobe lost Shaq, he also lost Phil. Rudy T became the coach, didn’t even finish the year (i forget the interim guy), then they brought Phil back the next year.

Mavs problem is trading away Dorian Finney-Smith that’s it that’s all , they made all the right moves except letting him go
IMO the Mavs lost due to some of, if not their best defensive pieces… If the Mavs can bring back Kyrie, add some defensive depth, and sign a good enough big to play both ways and can act as a Kevin Looney role, they’ll be back to contending 🤷🏻♂️
When Kyrie first got to Dallas they won the first 3 then everything started going downhill after Luka returned.
Just feels like all Luka knows is winning. And being in a completely opposite situation he doesn’t know how to act.

He won in European League at the age of 18, The reason why he hasn't won a Ring yet in the NBA is because, 1) The Front office in Dallas is trash, 2) The Player's they surrounded Luka with were average at best and very inconsistent, and 3) Luka Defense is lacking, this could be due to the fact that he has to do so much on offense that he try's to reserve his energy on defensive end! Mavs needed that top 10 Pick!

There's too much pressure to win Championships. Problem is the moves are too quick, they got Kyrie however traded so many other players too quickly, Mavericks lost their depth, entire team dynamic and defense has been disturbed too deeply. He should be balanced and happy increasing his skills/capability while putting up carrier defining stats and slowly integrate the proper team. They should have kept Brunson and waited for the proper center to come along without losing all their other pieces. The Media and independent journalism, whether they realize or not put too much pressure on the Mavericks and they made drastic moves and paid for it. Luka is a Floor General and Commander with Next Level IQ/Court Vision/Court awareness with proper post moves and longevity because he barely has to leave the floor he just uses spacial positioning to manipulate opposing defenses and this can never be taken away. Some players as well, no matter how good they may be do not compliment eachother while on the floor.

I’m more of a casual but it seems to me this narrative of ‘poor Luka – if only he was on a team like OKC’ doesn’t work because I don’t see how a team like that would work with a player like Luka is so ‘ball dominant’. Idk it’s doesn’t seem to me a coincidence that someone like Brunson would get better stats once they were allowed the bal more. Luka is amazing player but I find it hard to picture him in an amazing team because he overshadows every one on the court. This seems to me one the many differences between him and lebron who could be the most dominant player but actively make others better around him too
